.Most of these players select themselves. Agarkar has not done anything great here.

Apart from Kohli, Rohit, Hardik and Bumrah, no other player selects himself.

Remember the T20I WC less than a year back when we went to Australia with a squad full of floaty medium pacers.

With the past selection committee,  Chahal could have been there in place of Kuldeep, Mukesh in place of Prasidh, Bhuvi could have come back in place of Siraj citing eggsperience, Tilak could have been ignored.

If we blame selectors for poor selections then it is only fair that we praise them for good ones.

This is not t20, so they cannot select those floaty swing bowlers who cannot bowl more than 4 overs.

They still selected Arshdeep, Avesh and Mukesh for Ireland.

Last time an important 50 over squad was selected was in 2019.

Selecting a 14 member squad for world cup will be challenging. He has left the major headaches to captain and coach.

Important thing to check  is - did they pick the best ?

They could have continued like they were doing earlier - select unadkat, mookesh, avesh ,arshdeep( not a fit in ODI) and ignore Bhumra, Prasidh simply giving the reason that they lack match fitness.

Agarkar even if he wanted changes , cannot do certain things right at the start of WC.

Let us judge him post WC. If he draws out a plan to phase out Rohit & VK ASAP , then we are on right path.

Already it seems he has taken initial steps in T20  set up.

No they could not pick any of them as they have not played a single odis except Mukesh. I am willing to be patient and see what he will do in future.

But I am hope you are right and he will do better than picking those floaty and useless Harshal, Arshdeep for next t20.

Arshdeep had performed in T20Is. So, even I would have found it difficult to drop him till the time he fails. Now that he has started getting hit, things may change.

Avesh is a tall, hit the deck pacer. Not floaty.

Mukesh is a poor pick.

ODI squads, in the 12 months preceeding a 50 over WC, are important too.

Shouldn't expect a motley bunch to start performing as a group suddenly.

As i said previous post, I will be happy as long as I don't see those useless floaty bowlers in the squad again for any world cup squads.

Bishnoi probably missed by a hair.  I kinda expected given that he has no real experience in this format. Pretty good defensive bowler. India carries too many finger spinners. 2 of them. Including Kuldeep all 3 are left arm spinners. Given that India is reluctant to use Axar against left handers i say what is the point?

Because you need batting lower down the order. Axar is there if shardul doesn't play. Bishnoi was not in contention for ODIs. His domestic record is also poor.

Sky, Rahul with niggle, Tilak are dubious selection. Iyer borderline dubious.

KL Rahul is not fit for selection. Selectors look at this as  world cup selection rather than Asia cup selection. Unless India gets epic phainty or shock loss against lesser sides this is the likely squad for WC as well.

Wrong . All 4 have played ODI. Avesh 5 , Unadkat -8 , Arshdeep -3 . Had it been earlier selectors this pace bowling line up would not have come up.

Who are the alternatives in place of these 4 ?  Have to go with whatever  good we have , who also have some international exposure and been OK to decent .

Thanks to Agarkar, humiliation against Pakistan isn't a foregone conclusion. If we can somehow also niggle out Dravid and his useless sidekicks, I may even start feeling optimistic about our chances.

You will still have to drop two players from this squad.

Tilak has not played an ODI yet. He is a good talent but he is unlikely to play.

In case SKY fails vs Pakistan...  I'd like to see Tilak given a debut vs Nepal.

If he clicks then we should invest in him further.

We always lose after filling the squad with eggsperience.

Having one wild card entrant, who is fearless and without baggage, may help.

Rinku kind of player is missed badly. Protecting  his wicket taking the game deep. Rahul and Iyer are the ones we have. Not sure about their fitness or form.
