Should we bring back Ashwin?

Going back to a player who was discarded in 2017 would only push our cricket further back. He should not have been picked for the last T20 WC, either. In fact we should start resting him in some home test matches and picking the bowling trio of Jadeja, Axar, Kuldeep with Sundar in the mix

There is nothing wrong with going back to a player even if he had played two decades back. Experience can't be bought at eggstore.

Dunno about you guys but as a white ball package I think Ashwin is better than Sundar even at this age (he turned 37 yesterday). Sundar is strictly a red ball guy, and even his fitness/fielding is dodgy at this young age. Harsh fact is Sundar hasn't improved his white ball skills in the last 3-4 years, doesn't help that he misses so much cricket because of injuries.

I don't want Ashwin in the white ball setup because it ruins his red ball rhythm, also chance of injuries. Would rather have him help us reach another couple of WTC finals. If not 2, ek to banta hai, Eng and NZ touring India for 8 tests next year.

On these AC pitches, Ashwin would have been bloody tough to face. Tough to judge him based on pattas, on turners he is the apex predator.

I like when you said Apex Predator..

Having said that ... he should be strictly restricted to turning pitches

So the squad will have Ashwin and Jadeja once again?  And Axar is out?

Yeah this team will get marmalised

Don't know what gets into fans brain. Ashwin has played grand total of 2 ODIs and taken 1 wicket in last 6 years. Yes, last 6 years. If our selectors go back to him, we are better off calling Kumble back.

Will be either a monumental fukk up or a masterstroke of the highest order if we go with Ashwin...no inbetweens.

A bowling attack or Bumrah, Siraj, Kuldeep, Ashwin and Pandya has serious wicket taking accumen but on their off days, is also the most likely (than any other combination) to concede 400+ to Australia or England or even a maverick filled South Africa...

All we can do is pray for the best lol

Yeah. First Jadeja the fraud allrounder and now Ash wo has played 2 ODIs in 6 years. Jadeja should've be injured. Not Axar.

Better off picking Prasidh Krishna at this point and relying on part time spin from batters at this point

Every team has a worst case scenario and best case scenario. We are not alone. We saw how even with world's best spinner Australia was canned by SA. Only difference is some teams have other things to make up for it. india has none. Deep batting line up will make up for some teams.  That is where the strengths of teams differ. What happens when the situation is not ideal. England tends to find a resource somewhere. NZ/SA not far behind.
