Should we bring back Ashwin?

I mean...after watching yesterday's match...i felt, Its very important to bring back Ashwin...and play him based on the conditions..

If its a turning track...he is mandatory...

Yesterday...except kuldeep...no one was looking like taking wickets...

Just a pure luck that ... De-silva tried to loft the ball and perished.. Otherwise..it would have been a lost game for us...

Ashwin would have eaten them alive in the yesterday's match (with the kind if turn it offered)

Most of the ICFers might hate me for this...but i am feeling that he is mandatory in 15 member squad and use him on need basis (on turning pitches)

Oh god please no...same thing was said for the WT20 in Australia last year that the boundaries will be big and he will work with his "variations" etc etc but he ended up doing pretty much nothing except hitting the winning runs against Pakistan. Don't even get me started on his fielding abilities...

We need game changing spinners who bowls attacking lengths and go for wickets in the middle overs. Kuldeep is one... among others , the closest we have is Bishnoi. I'd rather have him over Ashwin.

Conditions will help Ashwin this time.

I agree Bishnoi is a good option. We basically need someone to counter lefties

Theekshana is an off spinner with carrom ball. So is  Mujeeb. But Mujeeb has an additional variation of seam up delivery.  Ashwin can be as good as Theekshana. Ashwin at chennai is  a legend 41 IPL games 48 wickets with an ER of 6. He is nearly unplayable in some conditions. But i very very much doubt India will go back to him. That i can udnerstand.

Lol.

Let's not get more seniors in the team especially those who haven't done well in the odi format..

As for left handed logic, i remember some people saying the same in t20 WC before he was thrashed by miller

In ODIs and In Indian conditions that is a legitimate argument. In T20 match up means little as Axar was thrashed by Iftikar.

Wellalage is a spinner too and did alright.

Different conditions. The ball was gripping significantly more. Even Asalanka was able to get some rip off the pitch. Certainly wasn't gripping as much when we bowled.

Asalanka was getting the ball to grip more than even Kuldeep could at times.

That doesn't happen in even conditions.

We can't control for toss, rain, dew etc and we certainly can't choose a XI after the toss.

Just go seamer heavy. If we do get to bowl on such surfaces, even part timers can do the job as DDS and Asalanka showed. There is no need for extra specialist spinner. Even seamers can bowl cutters etc.

However , if we lose the toss and are forced to bowl at night in different conditions, selecting the extra spinner might be a decision to regret as we nearly regretted last night.
