Should we bring back Ashwin?

Yeah. First Jadeja the fraud allrounder and now Ash wo has played 2 ODIs in 6 years. Jadeja should've be injured. Not Axar.

Better off picking Prasidh Krishna at this point and relying on part time spin from batters at this point

Actually, this option would have been a no Brainer if we were playing WC in SENA countries.

Issue here is that we're playing in subcontinent, where pitches will assist spin (unless there is dew) and as our batters struggle against spin, we would need some depth in our batting.

Imagine if we go with Kuldeep, Bumrah, Siraj & Prasidh as our 8-11, with Jadeja batting at 7.

The moment we are 5 down, collapse will be around the corner as Jadeja is a very very unreliable option with bat.

Btw..I would back Sundar at 7, Jadeja at 8, then Bumrah-Siraj-Kuldeep. Shardul will be backup for Sundar/Jadeja while Shami for main bowlers. This will also give us a flexibility to shuffle our batting order (Sundar/Jadeja can go up & down depending upon the need).

Dunno about you guys but as a white ball package I think Ashwin is better than Sundar even at this age (he turned 37 yesterday). Sundar is strictly a red ball guy, and even his fitness/fielding is dodgy at this young age. Harsh fact is Sundar hasn't improved his white ball skills in the last 3-4 years, doesn't help that he misses so much cricket because of injuries.

I don't want Ashwin in the white ball setup because it ruins his red ball rhythm, also chance of injuries. Would rather have him help us reach another couple of WTC finals. If not 2, ek to banta hai, Eng and NZ touring India for 8 tests next year.

That slot is more for an all-rounder than pure bowler. Kuldeep has taken role of pure bowler who is supposed to finish 10 overs.

Sundar is better all-rounder than Ashwin. He has worked on his hitting abilities lately and he would be useful addition to playing XI.

I can't help but feel a bit frustrated with this last-minute decision to include Ashwin in the WC squad. It's going to blow up in our faces big time. His batting in LOIs has gone downhill, and let's not even get started on his wicket-taking ability in the middle overs ,it's just not there. We need someone who can take crucial wickets, not just contain the runs.

And don't even get me started on his fielding. Remember that drop catch of Shan Masood in the last T20 WC? Yeah, that's the level of Ashwin's fielding , it's right up there with Chahal and Prasidh, and that's not a good place to be.

Washington, on the other hand, brings so much more to the table as a player. Whether it's his batting or bowling, he offers real value. I really hope Rohit and Dravid make a wise decision here. We need fresh, young legs to take on the opposition, and Ashwin just doesn't fit the bill.

Playing  9 matches with same pacers will be risky add 1/2/3 if (just saying) we go all the way

That too with a returning Bumrah and Oldman Shami(in the reserve)

One extra pacer should have been there as reserve

Ashwin will do zilch with his batting and enough said about his fielding

Yeah looks pretty good. I have same views. Sundar seems clearly the best option because vs good attacks, he can be relied on to form a partnership. I have my doubts on Axar, Shardul and to some extent Jadeja as well for that.

Are you not overrating Sundar's batting ability. His highest recent LIST A score is 43 @70 sr .Rest of them were all in single digit scores.

It is not like he was lighting up FC either?

So he will magically transform himself when India is under pressure that too in a world cup and scores needed runs from number 7.
