Looking at the favorites. 

 

1) England. Clearly. 

2) Australia

3) India. Home Team 

4) NZ. Always one for ICC tournos. 

5) South Africa. Talented and unpredictable. 

6) Pakistan. Dangerous once it gains momentum. 

 

Forget winning the cup. Getting into the semis will be a task.

Indeed it seems to be. The winner will have to display a very high level of consistency to first qualify for the Semis and later win back to back matches to lift the cup. 

 

Pakistan may have flopped in the Asia Cup but they will be in contention for the Top side on Indian pitches.

Yes, SL were also shaping up well until yesterday's disaster happened. Hope it is just an aberration and they come back strongly in the WC.

Don’t forget bangladesh.  We lost 3 out of 4 matches to them . 
Sri Lanka can be dangerous if their spinners get right conditions .

The winner will probably need to get some lucky/close wins in the group stage and then peak in the KOs

Its almost like football WC at this point. Purely on the day perfomance knockout plus momentum in the tournament. 

 

Wont be surprised if NZ or SA spring a surprise.

After 1996, ever World Cup has been fairly predictable. One of the top 4 sides has always won the World Cup.

Last WC was the same, how is this more "open" than that?

Last world cup was closer. Bangladesh was good, SL was good, Wi was there bouncing out Pakistan.

 

They need to change the knock out formats like IPL to eliminate flukey wins and rewarding league phase winner.

 

There is no excuse not to change knock out formats.It will add more meaningful matches also.
