No future in LOI cricket for specialist finger spinners. But I forget India still plays LOI cricket like it's 1996 so good chance of him becoming the new Jadeja.

Not sure he has the intelligence and drive of an Ashwin to be a top class Test off spinner.

Bleak future I'm afraid

he is not a bowler or bowling AR. in tests, he is suited for being 5th bowler or even 6th bowler. likewise in ODIs.

if he reaches shakib level, he will become one of the greatest ARs of the era, which is what shakib is

Not a huge feat considering from his era, Stokes and Jadeja are the only contenders. Also, Shakib in Test cricket clearly hasn't faced the big guns enough to warrant an ATG spot. Neither he doesn't want to given how he skipped few matches which he gets to face against them. Across formats, Shakib probably has a strong case but in Tests, I would put Stokes and Jadeja both slightly ahead of him. Need to look beyond numbers too especially for a spin A/R playing in spinning conditions mostly.

All three- Stokes, Shakib and Jadeja are country greats and below Kapil, Botham and Imran among the all rounders.

Yuvraj was smoking peak Lee to all corners, albeit on a dead track, at 22-23 in Oz tri series! He also had a stellar ODI series in Pak in 2006, was one of the main reasons why we won alongside SRT, MS & Pathan. He has a really really long way to go to be compared to him.

That 139 was in Oz against the best LO side ever.

shardul took 7 wkts in the match and scored a clutch 50. for me, he was the unsung hero of Gabba.

this does not take away from sundar's great batting in both innings, and also bowled usefully

First inns yes, in second inns he threw his wkt courtesy of a foolish shot.

That was immediately after Sundar's got out..

If in that moment Pant have also gotten out, we would have seriously lost the match despite playing out of skin for the entire day.

No McGrath, no Warne. Best side how?

Warne didn't play in 03 WC (that was when his 12 month drug ban began).

By that logic he should have dominated after that fabulous start against aus when he took on lee,McGrath, Gillespie in kenya as a teenager, but it doesn't work like that.

In any case ,I am not saying sundar is at par with yuvraj, but potential is there.

And I'm saying Yuvraj was fundamentally a superior player that that point in time, ATG Indian fielder, utility bowler & upcoming batter. Sundar for me is good for tests, in LO he needs to really up his game & fielding to be a regular.

He performance was quite mediocre and was being backed on potential.A guy who averages 29 with the bat after 100 odis, how good can he be? If he were playing now icf would have been screaming for him to be dropped.

On record almost everybody is better than sundar atm,we aren't discussion that.

Bump!
Terrific performance with the bowl, took a 7-fer vs NZ.
Best part is instead of just darting the bowl previously, he was looking to spin the ball.
Can "Chinna" take an inspiration from this and replace "Anna" ?

He is more like axar -- he will be figured out soon ..

that suthar guy is good -- a proper spinner

Suthar, Sindhu, Axar, Mulani, Saurabh all are left arm orthodox.

The overspin/dip, pace and accuracy from a tall release - more Lyon than Ashwin as @Lone Wolf astutely recognised in the match thread. Very impressive bowling today.

Indeed lots of overspin and revs which we are not used to with Ashwin whose strength is side spin (only instance I remember him trying overspin is Australia tour2020 in Adelaide and MCG)

Varying his pace nicely Sundar.

He was putting revs on the balls in SL T20s but I thought it may be coz of conditions but he seems to have genuinely worked on his bowling.

Man if he can master outside off line with this much over spin then we could be onto something extremely special.
