Sean Bradley
No, it is clear by now, that ODI cricket is still a filter between a great teams, good teams, and avg. teams. While that gap between great good and average becomes narrow in T20 cricket as anyone can beat anyone on a given day. ODI cricket is still a pinnacle of judging quality sides and their preparation of 4 long years. singhvivek141 and Norman 2 Link to comment
rollingstoned
Odi world Cup is still the sports' marquee event regardless of any debate around how much of a draw it still is and it's length. The problem is ICC has devalued every tournament by holding one pretty much every year creating a supply-demand issue. Suhaan 1 Link to comment
Suhaan
England after forging their way into laying hands on their first 50 over WC trophy, certainly don't care Had it been again in England,it would have been termed as 'the second beautiful game' nevada 1 Link to comment

The English are very chalu and quick to disparage whatever isn't working in their favor. For them, spinning tracks are evil but swinging tracks are totally fine. This world cup, they have been complaining about the outfield, weather, air quality and whatnot. Suhaan and AuxiliA 2 Link to comment

We didn't prepare for 4 long years, in fact our prep was in shambles just before the Asia Cup. Yes ODI is the better of quality/skills/temperament but so is test & even more so. I'd argue, as always, that pitches/conditions dictate cricket the most & in longer formats weaker teams generally tend to be not able to overcome them. That's why they lose more often, or always in tests outside their comfort zone. India over the last 4-8 years has been the most consistent team across conditions & our home advantage just adds to that! Link to comment

Heard anyone say this is Aus chance to do the double? Anyone remember who won the last 5 T20 world cups? The very mention of the year 1992 or 1996 or 1983 means something. Anyone remember the T20 WC years? There is so many meaningless Bilateral and meaningless tournaments inbetween every WC, that its become meaningless to even win one. With all that said, ODI WC is still prestigious and definitely holds strongly second place over T20, to the Test Championship. Link to comment

Or am I mixing it up with 2021? You’re right. Eng are the holders. Which proves my point wonderfully. Nobody cares or remembers! putrevus and bowl_out 2 Link to comment
Sindragosa
My prediction is that the World Cup will last longer than a certain country that has won it. Not mentioning any names. Link to comment

If the powers that be, which let face it include India in large measure, scrap the 50 over World Cup I will not be happy! Does India winning make it less or more likely we are watching the last edition? Unfortunately this is behind a pay wall https://www.thecricketer.com/Topics/mens-world-cup-2023-premium/icc_review_future_world_cup_format.html Only for the Poms, ODI cricket is dead. But ODI WC will stay , much of the stupid bi-lats will die down. CT and ODI WC ftw! Link to comment
Lord
Its the bilaterals that need to go. ODI should be played in form of World Cup,Asia Cup tri series etc only. Link to comment
