Last game when others were losing their heads with wayward throws, missed runouts and catches, diving over the ball, he was pulling off some fine saves and was super calm for the Williamson catch. 

 

 

He is not first choice but he is in there cause he is different from the rest. His role is to take on the bowling from the go, won't come off often though he has done well when called upon IMO. You never know with players like him, they could just click when it's least expected like maybe the final

As of now he is just filling up for batting part of Pandya and didnt get enough chances..I am fine if he doesnt get a chance to bat in teh final lol..

-he made good 50 against Aus in the lead up to the CWC

-made good runs against Eng to give us a respectable and fighting total

-good and calm filelding in the semi final against NZ

 

so even though he hasnt shined like others mostly due to lack of genuine opportunities..still gave some useful contribution...

 

if we get decent start..and want to capitalize and make brisk scoring to take match out of Aussies hand.we can send him as a pinch hitter..or if we are in trouble early on..then if we want to counter Aussies with agressiveness..he can be then sent early as well..

 

hopefully..we dont need his batting..one last time..fingers crossed..

I don't think we have much option now for finals. They won't promote him so his role is to score whatever he can in 5-10 balls he gets.

Agreed!

Anyways..if Aussies bat first..they will always have to score 20-30 runs extra..keeping in mind SKY is there..so run rate wont be a problem for him..so need above par score..

Super inconsistent. His first priority should be to last 25 deliveries. If he keeps getting out that easy, he’s gonna lose whatever little form he’s got or searching.

As long as him and Jadeja come in the last 7 or so overs , it is a good sign for india. The other batsmen would in all probability have racked up a comfortable score.

He is the bank/security net to fall upon.

Imagine if we replace him with Ashwin or Shardul...will the remaining batters be able to play freely, knowing Jadeja will bat at 6 & Ashwin at 7 ??

 

Out batting unit is clicking now, so he isnt needed often. But in finals where nerves will dictate the situation often, having an explosive batter like him at the end is going to give breather to batters like KLR, Kohli to take their time to get eye in. Because SKY will accelerate at the end and get the RR up.

He is X factor player...  Someone who can scare the opposition by his presence.  You never know when he will be needed.

What makes us believe that he can take us from 250/4 in 35 overs to 400 in 50 overs.

 

He has failed to that for us in T20I tournaments also.
