Batting all-rounder vs Bowling all-rounder.

Comparison with Santner is much more appropriate, imo. Both are very accurate and economical bowlers who can bowl in all phases in LOIs. Santner however is much better slogger and a gun fielder as well like all Nz players.

However I feel that Sundar would have evolved a lot more if he was in Nz setup. They know how to maximize their resources and give them perfect roles and matchups.

Rachin has very high ceiling, on par with Gill. His bowling is just icing

Sundar has had enough chances. He's no where close in batting in LOIs atleast.

People hype Sundar too much here. Yeah he did some nice innings in Australia but so what. Guy is injured all the time. Another Hardik loading. Big promise and small returns.

I like him and wish him to be in our Test side but don't trust unfit guys.

Spot on. Guy like is ideal for a team like NZ.  In Indian team he is kind of a misfit. At this point a no.8 batsman. But because our tail is too long that he is being forced to bat at 7.

Rachin is what ICF has been hoping Sundar to be, wrt batting in LOIs. Sundar has some notable batting performances in test cricket but has been underwhelming in other formats. With frequent injuries, the Sundar train seems derailed for the time being. Abhishek Sharma is probably poor man's Rachin at this point!

Who is better?

I think Sundar can evolve to be as good as Rachin with the bat based on what I have seen and is a better bowler.

There isn't any spot at top order for Sundar in LOs.

Rachin was a backup for Williamson and will now play a spot above or below when Kane gets fit.

Rachin Ravindra is potentially the biggest upcoming batting star in all formats.

Sundar has shown good temperament in tests but hasn't impressed in white ball. May be he is focusing on to become a no. 7, rather than pure batsman.

Gill vs Rachin is the comparison. I hope Gill recovers and scores a couple of 100s . Rachin is technically more perfect than Sundar. Full is more accomplished, All are young and will be the future of their teams

Sundar struggles on slow pitches,he will bat well on quicker tracks.

I have not seen a lot of rachin but he looks a better batsman as he plays late.Sundar is too punchy and upright ,abhishek sharma is another guy who struggles to play late.

That is a good call. Abishek sharma is shaping into a versatile batsman.  Parag is another guy who is shaping well. Sindhu has potential. Sundar has way too much competition in the spinning all rounder department. Sundar has to massively upgrade his game. In INdia you cannot be like Padosis who don't improve their game for years. Gill when he started was not a six hitter. Look at him now. Abhishek has improved a lot as well.

To be fair in the under-19 Ravindra was the opener for New zealand.  He was the captain of under-19 side. So he is not a bowler. Bowling is his part time activity. Ravindra and Glen phillips opened for New zealand. He was earmarked long back

The funny part in the under-19 world cup was

Sundar was dismissed by Ravindra

Ravindra was caught by Sundar

India had Pant and Kishan opening for us.

Their bowling is largely due to conditions ,if sundar played in NZ he would have concentrated more on his batting. In indian conditions finger spin is the best type of bowling .

The other point is left-handers have to face the footmarks in fc cricket specially in the 2nd inning,in indian conditions it's even more exaggerated, probably this is why we don't produce many left handed test match batsmen.

I always felt Sundar’s continuous injuries has robbed him continuous game time, form and spot..it also dents confidence and causes self doubt..

had he been a fitter cricketer..his performance graph and growth could have been much better..
