Vijy
So far in VHT, speaking about some less talked about names: Padikkal is scoring very consistently and has a monstrous List A record. however, he is a top order consolidator type, and we have enough of those (kohli, gill, gaekwad, kela if he opens, etc). Badoni has done well, seems to deserve Ind A chance. if rahul chahar keeps it up, this would be nice to solve leg spin hole. he is a proper no. 9 batter too; ditto for shreyas gopal, but he is too old. suyash sharma is also looking promising so far, although he does not bat. nalkande has been among wkts, but never looked int'l class in the recent past. atit sheth, one of the few trundlers I like, has done well with the ball. he is a proper no. 8 batter IMO. raj bawa has done well at times with both bat & ball, but needs to be given more chances in both areas and trusted more too. tweaker and singhvivek141 2 Link to comment
singhvivek141
Hangargekar & Sen both not playing...while has beens like Kedar Jadhav & DK are hogging the place for a youngster. Domestic teams need to apply age filter of 36, no player older than this age should play as a team member. Whats the point when you know they aren't going to be a national team material. I wish he would bowl more though yesterdays news Vijay Hazare Trophy: Tewatia takes centre-stage as Haryana beats Delhi by 53 runs In the first innings, Tewatia (99 not out) played the rescuer when his side was reeling at 120 for five while he took three wickets later to doom Delhi to its third consecutive los If he balls even 2 overs consistently job done for us. We can have him in place of Jadeja anyday. He is left handed, clutch, not a bad fielder and effortless 6 hitter. Can move round his crease ( i cant forget how he manhandled rashid khan in one tight match) ..bishnoi tewatia will he a good combo as bishnoi basically is an offspinner bowling only googlies where as tewatia i have seen used to bowl pretty decent leg spin.. Likely, cannot remember Tripura beating Mumbai in any format before. Many heartwarming performances in that match. Sudip Chatterjee top-scored with 60 off 78. He had some very good Ranji seasons with Bengal, before he lost form and his way somewhat. Had he not been Bengali, he likely would have got some chances for the national team. Manisankar Murasingh (the North East's Richard Hadlee), scored 55 off 26 and then followed up with 4 wickets. Unfortunately, he is not only North Eastern (in Hindi-Belt terms, a "Chinese"), but also has a Bengali-sounding name on top (see Sudip Chatterjee's case), so it is not likely he will ever play for the national team either.
