singhvivek141
Well, all this debacle has now lead to a probability of new airport at Minicoy Island (last Island of Lakshadweep) which will serve as a Military plus Commercial airport and will also have Naval base. Already the Naval & Airforce base is underway at Great Nicobar, which will help us to keep an eye on Malacca Strait. coffee_rules

Have to bump our economy & military power, no two thoughts about it. Plus have to start doing state sponsored information warfare & propaganda. World listens to the powerful..."vir bhogya vasundhara" is what we say in Sanskrit. Culture of freeloading & poaching the refugees should be stopped. This habit of "vasudhaeva kutumbakam" isn't going to take us anywhere. We are on our own. coffee_rules and Gollum
Ranvir
Just go to Mauritius, it has stunning beaches and a lot more to explore, the locals are also very friendly. The Maldives are mind numbingly boring after 3 days unless you just want to sit at a beach all day and night.
LordPrabhzy
Agree with you as I have been there as well- cheaper than Maldives and tonnes more to do an experience if one has the time.

coffee_rules
Mauritius was the Bollywood phoren destination obsession in the late 80s and 90s . Many Hindi films like Hum, Agnipath, Baazigar were shot there. Now they have switched to Maldives probably it’s cheaper
cowboysfan
Golden opportunity for India to flex its muscles with its neighbours.lets see how Maldives can tolerate a complete trade embargo, its fate might be a warning to our neighbuors.Decades of being a good guy neighbour has gotten us nowhere, all our them see to hate us for no reason. coffee_rules

ravishingravi
Nations are about national interests. When you give some country it's sovereignty this is always a possibility. Don't blame Maldives. They are looking at their options just as we would. Question is why did we allow a separate nation status to them. There is literally no reason for it to be a separate country. Maldives is only 6 lakh people. If India tomorrow declares Maldives starting x date is 9th union territory, what can they do ? Its not as if anyone including China will come to rescue them. I think we should just leave them alone.. They will fight among themselves and destroy maldives in few years.

mishra
Think Indian islands are classic case of lost opportunitis , misplaced priorities and poor governances of Congress rule. Not many know but We have over 600 islands most of them unhabitated and laws preventing Indians to even visit, forget investment. As far as row is concerned, I am not very much bothered as for MAldives, They are suffering from "Grass looks greener on other side" syndrome. Let them experience Chines bonhomie coffee_rules
