Jurel isn't an upgrade over Pant in t20s and Jitesh is terrible

He is Dube lite in hype but no substance

Jurel is skilled but I doubt his T20 batting

Pant 5-6 years ago was a monster hitter,just got too weathered by early criticism and has curbed a lot

Still feel he's quite uncomfortable and not assured of his loi place

The star culture worked earlier when we had an average team and people could look at Gavaskar, Kapil or Tendulkar to feel good. Not anymore as we've a team which can beat anyone so no need to rely on the start system.

I agree...but what works for Jurel and Jitesh is they can rotate strike at no 5/6.

 

That's not Pants speciality...and also his hitting game is reduced.

 

I am not sure where are the next gen keepers though...Ishan Kishan has fallen off track and tbh there is no place for him at the top anymore. With Jaiswal, Abhishek, SKY, Rinku potentially being 4 out of top 5 and Tilak, Gill, Parag to fight for the 5th player spot...there is literally no space at the top now without making compromises.

Have contingency plans better than SKY coming in for Pandya. Have 2 backups for every role.

Gill-Jaiswal is the way to go. Maybe they can fit Abhishek at 3..

Need separate teams and captains for each format, come to accept that all format players are the exception and not the norm. We select for different formats based on performances in another one eg Rahane after last IPL for WTC final. We also drop players from 1 format because they are out of form in another one which is just foolish.

Those were bowling/batting ARs. Pure bowlers have very little success rate.

if Bumrah can play under Rohit, he can play under others too. Doubt he even wants captaincy.

 

One theory is that bowler captains tend to underbowl/overbowl themselves, not trusting others in crucial moments.

Please do not pursue with Dube. He has show enough to conclude that he is a zero all rounder and with bat only can play on very limited conditions.

Bumrah can't be captain as he should be used carefully and in tournaments that's matter.

 

Gill is good choice for captaincy in T20 for now.
