One thing which goes against Neeraj he has never touched the 90 meter mark. Probably he should try to work towards stretching his limit. Neeraj needs to work on his technique which is pretty good tbh but he can better it. Otherwise no way to compete against brute force of Nadeem. Dude literally went from 84 to almost 93 in 3 years...which is insane. raki05 1

No goofing around, they draw the viewers in, even first time watchers will learn and love the sport listening to the commentary. They cover all types of viewers - those who know everythig about hockey, those who are illiterate about hockey, and people somewhere in between. Even regional commentary like Tamil was good. At first, I thought it was tacky but it was intelligent humor and comemntators got really fired up during the red card thing. All native language commentators were good. Far better than boring english. Cricket is absolutely the inverse Gollum, Sgattick10 and rollingstoned 1 1 1

If you compare Nadeem with Neeraj, both of them are professionals so they must be having good technque, putting in the hard work and power. On the whole, Nadeem has more power and Neeraj has better technique. I also believe Neeraj puts more hard work but that is speculation. Nadeem can easily throw more than 90s with even better technique. Now that's scary. Or maybe his amble and throw suits him better than a more athletic runup. Gollum, Lone Wolf and Number 3

Gollum Posted August 9, 2024 Posted August 9, 2024 Nadeem is brute power, like a rhino or elephant. Neeraj is a sleek athlete, more like a tiger. Had run up issues yesterday and groin issues for a while. Soon he will breach 90m. Pathetic to see some ICFers undermine Neeraj just because he lost to a Pakistani. bharathh, saransh, Real McCoy and 5 others 3 5

I don't track his quickest ball as I do for neerajs throws so I will take your word. The difference however is, neeraj always and even today said that he has it in him and expects himself to break 90 m, bumrah doesn't say so for 160 kmph or 100 mph. Number 1
Number Posted August 9, 2024 Posted August 9, 2024 If you notice another thing, all of Nadeem's big throws were towards right side of the field while Neeraj's 89+ was towars left side of the field. Wind at times can be a big factor too, not sure if these things are assessed by the players. Gollum 1
Gollum Posted August 9, 2024 Posted August 9, 2024 Consistency in an event like javelin is tough. Vetter used to throw 95m, Anderson Peters has so many 90+ throws, never won Olympic gold or enjoyed sustained success. Valdejch was the best thrower in 2024 before the Olympics, Weber was another top medal prospect. Both didn't medal. It is amazing to see what Neeraj has achieved. Back to back gold and silver in Olympics, yet some ungrateful retarded Indians are mocking him, downplaying him. Guy has won everything worth winning in this sport, like Djokovic he has a complete resume in his sport, none, I repeat none of the other javelin throwers among his peers has that. This is the Neeraj era. Same bunch of ICFers will tolerate years and years of flop shows by their favorite cricketers in ICC KOs but how dare Neeraj get silver in an Olympics by throwing his season's best, despite carrying a niggle? Yesterday, he looked like an elephant that just had a big meal. In his first throw, I was like how can this flabby guy throw so long. I found out in the next throw I guess javelin throwers should possess strength but not be classically fit. I learned the lesson yesterday. His technique may appear ugly but for a first time viewer, Bumrah's action will also appear ugly. Gollum 1

Yup What Neeraj ha avhived very few atheletes in subcontinent has achieved it in Physical sports. Thing is you can throw 90+ once in a while but Neeraj is more consistent with 90 mark so there is always a possibility for him to win a medal. For Gold he will have to stretch his limit a bit just to be on safer side, but he is once in a generation talent. Sgattick10, Real McCoy, Frustrated and 1 other 3 1

bharathh Posted August 9, 2024 Author Posted August 9, 2024 Not sure why there is so much debate over Neeraj. It was Nadeem's day and he deserves gold. Doesn't undermine what Neeraj has done or has achieved so far. Tip your hat and move on. It's not like anyone else came close to 90 either. Before today it was only done once this year. Just because he is P@ki ppl are getting their pants in a twist. Let's applaud our champion and hope he goes strength to strength. We are lucky to have someone like him as our countryman. cric_fan, coffee_rules, Sgattick10 and 4 others 5 2
