See people wrist slitting over poor performance BUT:

1. Big corporates not interested in spending crores and crores on grassroot investment and facilities to target disciplines and create an atmosphere of sports culture for EVERY child in the country not just the kids of middle class ans above. We need close to £500M of funding for the population of our size... 400crore is nothing. Stop giving freebie and reservations to minorities, money is better spent on sports

2. No scope of Chinese style sports training programme for kids where they literally make it all their life and take them away from parents.

Now if people dont want to do either we cant get any more medals than we do

bro Nadeem won a medal on a desi paratha, nihari, biryani diet and probably trained with some ustad from his pind.

maybe too much money is promoting nepotism and undeserving folk. Vinesh qualified but she was pushed also due to political lobby.

my concern now is in the long run how much of a factor Nadeem is going to be? is he here to stay or is he like so many javelin athletes who do not have consistency?

He is like Anderson Peters - great on his day. lost to Neeraj in WC 2023 after hitting 90 in CWG.

An exception to the rule doesn't make it a rule.

People are focusing on established athletes and their tantrums -I am looking at the bigger picture and  suggesting money to be out in the grassroot level to encourage every kid to have infrastructure and facilities to take up sport. its a 20/25 year project which Ambani and Adani who have Trillion$ as net worth need to seriously start investing. Top down approach of rewards will never work

They are businessmen , why would they do that, it is not their job.

it is upto Govt to create infrastructure and corporate funding is always cherry on top. People need to pay taxes and genrate revenue for the govt.

It is very easy to distribute other people's money.

Not just energy, passion but great technical and tactical insights. No goofing around, they draw the viewers in, even first time watchers will learn and love the sport listening to the commentary.

Unfortunately we get only elite gora commies. I saw clips of GB game and Spain, it feels like you are in the stadium watching the game. Amazing Hindi commentary.

Which rule dictates Gov HAS to do it.

In USA and UK, Government does not provide the majority of funding for sports. Its private corporates and in a country like India where no more than 5% of people pay tax, BC sabko freebies chaiye, best infrastructure chaiye, best defence chaiye aur ab best sports funding bhi chaiye.

There is only limited amount of money in the treasury with current tax revenues and its not mandated that Govs should be spending on sports. It should be private corporates who have the ability, resources and contacts to make it happen

Ambani has Carnegie/Guggenheim type aspirations though especially Nita.

Expect investment in sport/arts.

Arshad has been based in France and Switzerland for his training in the leadup to the Olympics, working with gora biomechanists and all.

Don't get fooled by these lack of support narratives being built by Pakistanis.

Here I am reading into and sharing how bad Nadeem got it iPak. he’s had brand endorsements, private sponsorship and has world’s best facilities to train him , otherwise it is not easy for a dehati to come throw 90+ m .  So uninformed

Who said that in USA , govt does not provide basic infrastructure.

Public schools are the main sources for creating talent. Public schools are free and all the infrastuture is provided by local municipalities.Which get funds from property taxes.

Once talents are identified at school level , they get funded by different programs and Colleges get funded by different programs, both private and public.

So people need start paying income taxes and business need to pay sales tax.

No private entity has infrastructure to do what govt can do.

Yeah right , Adani and Ambani have nothing else to do other than distributing their wealth.

They are 26,27 yes. They can probably compete for another 2 Olympics. It all depends on Neeraj’s will power. He is certainly going to break 90m barrier

Any update on Vinesh's CAS hearing? One more thing why did the coaches and PT Usha along with doctors did not advice her to forfeit the bout saying she was injured so she could have avoided all this mess and still have silver.

400 cr was for the olympic alone. Total sport budget is 3400 cr.

really devastated after Neeraj loss. unable to sleep

I had the honor of meeting Neeraj personally

my heart is broken

Losing sleep over something as trivial as sports is not a good thing. I was pissed off about the olympic hockey SF v Germany because the umpiring was biased. Neeraj won silver and lost to a olympic record throw from Nadeem. Its not something to be ashamed of. Neeraj threw his own best in the finals. I can take heart from the fact that our guy tried his best and someone else had to overcome this challenge to win gold. That is the spirit of fair competition and olympics

Found the panauti.. Maaro isko.

Just kidding :icflove:. Winning and losing is a part of sports. We had to go through hell in the 90s watching mediocre Indian teams play cricket and things have been great in the last 20 years. this will improve too and we will be doing much better across the board and focusing less on individual events

There have been some great moments in this olympics where athletes have done impossible, rasing the levels  when nobody expected them to do it.

Nadeem yesterday, Zheng beating Iga on her favorite surface to win singles title.Julien winning 100m.
