Lone Wolf
Just now, Gollum said: @Lone Wolf any chance of Eng or RSA reaching WTC F? Assuming Eng wins this series 3-0, then 3-0 in Pak. Also RSA clean sweeping their weak opponents at home etc. These 5 tests are important, secure 5-0 and we can breathe easy in BGT at least when it comes to WTC F qualification. England are not out of it provided Aus and India mess up. Those over rate penalties will have a final say eventually. India won't dock points at home for overrate. In Australia both teams can. In case Australia loses 3-1 or 2-1 to India with some over rate penalties as well & goes on to lose to Lankans in February 2-0 away that would be massive. This would open things up for Eng. SA have to win everything & they would doctor pitches at home vs SL and Pak .. more 3 day finishes & will play BD away (on turners likely) That second test Australia's come from behind win in NZ early this year & Ravindra's gargantuan dropped catch might be clincher for Aussies even if they go on to lose to India. Aus v India final is still most likely.. Gollum 1 Link to comment

Lucky Kiwis were gifted their first series win against Saffers but their luck ran out against Australia. First series defeat I guess since 2016 at home for them. Unbeaten run would have continued if not for Ravindra's match losing drop in second test. NZ were on top & Australia's fragile batting were on the ropes. Gollum 1 Link to comment

His entire career has been based on feasting on substandard attacks and/or on pattas. Will finish with highest average among Fab 4. Stats will show 3 100s in a 2 test series against RSA, won't reveal which RSA. Edited August 30 by Gollum Lone Wolf 1 Link to comment
Frustrated
1 hour ago, Gollum said: We have 17 straight series victories at home. You seriously think we will lose 0-2 to Toygers....especially after what we did to Bazballers once we kicked out Bharat, Patidar, Mukesh type trash. Deep down within, I don't see India losing. But then, our recent batting performance against lankan spinners doesn't give much confidence.(Especially on these pitches). Patidar was sh!t against spin. But his replacement (kohli) is equally sh!t against spin. Bharat is likely to get replaced by Pant who hasn't been at his best post comeback. I hope Pant doesn't play. Instead Jurel plays. Another concern is the absence of Bumrah. (Siraj's form is always hot & cold. Never a reliable bowler). Link to comment

However, that could be a gamble. Having 2 wicketkeepers in the playing11 massively restricts the bowling options. Link to comment

Gollum
Knowing Indian hierarchy, if Pant can't keep, they'll give Kela the gloves to keep Jurel and Sarfaraz out. Sgattick10 1 Link to comment

That's why i want both Pant and Jurel to be in the XI in these 5 home tests. Let both don gloves, gradually increase Pant's keeping workload and see how he responds. That way we are also grooming a fine prospect in Jurel. If Pant gets injured in BGT, we will have a somewhat seasoned/experienced Jurel to take his place. Jurel was awesome against England, even his keeping to spinners was elite quality. Norman 1 Link to comment

Norman
Jurel and Pant both must be in the playing 11 for all the five tests against BD and NZ. Iyer is done and dusted. Non serious guy with too many weaknesses shouldn't be carried further. Kela and Sarfaraz should be the middle order back-ups. Link to comment

express bowling
1. Rohit 2. Jaiswal 3. Gill 4. Kohli 5. Pant 6. Jurel ( wk) 7. Jadeja 8. Ashwin 9. Harshit 10. Kuldeep 11. Bumrah 12. Rahul 13. Sarfraz 14. Axar 15. Akashdeep .... Prefer Pant not to keep fulltime in tests yet. Can rotate keeping duties with Jurel. Unfortunately, Sarfraz becomes a backup due to this. .... Want one high potential young pacer to be groomed in these test series against weaker teams. My first choice is Harshit. Backup is Akashdeep. .... No point in playing Siraj too if Bumrah is available. We know what Siraj brings to the table. .... Minor changes maybe made based on Duleep Trophy. putrevus
Guys like Harshit or Akash Deep have very little experience in bowling 20 plus overs. I would rotate Siraj and Bumrah every other home test. They both need to be match ready for Australia.Shami must be ready or India will have serious issues in Australia. Link to comment
vishalvirsingh
i feel we should not need BOOM for bangla series specially when we have NZ and Australia series ahead. India should be able to beat Bangla with Siraj , harshit and akashdeep as speedsters and Kuldeep/axar/ashwin as spinners. indian batting kohli/rohit/jaiswal/gill /shreyas( against spin he is good)/sarfaraz/pant ( ahead of jurel as pant is going to play in Australia other wise jurel is a far better keeper than pant) siraj/harshit/kuldeep/ashwin. they may replace sarfaraz with axar but that would be risky as sarfaraz goes to the pitch thinking of a 100 where as axar goes to the pitch thinking of scoring quick runs- so in a test when you don't have a pujara or a dravid , guys like sarfaraz can be real good. rohit jaiswal gill kohli shreyas- on Australian tracks , we may have better batsman than shreyas other wise on indian tracks shreyas iyer is a BIG batsman as big as KOHLI and ROHIT. on indian tracks , he scores big runs and he scores them quickly. sarfaraaz- he did fairly well in his debut test series and it will be disheartening if he is not played. secondly this guy is scoring big runs in domestic cricket and I will not be surprised if he becomes the highest scorer in duleep trophy too. Pant- if jurel is batting well , even jurel can be played but since we do not have bumrah , we should strentghen our batting and that's why PANT will do. ashwin kuldeep harshit or akashdeep who ever is bowling well. siraj jaiswal/shreyas will be 5th bowler. its an absolute truth that Kuldeep and ASHWIN are our top Spinners .the only guy who can compete with them is R Sai Kishore. he could play as third spinner actually if the pitch is spin friendly. R!TTER
Need to make flat/bouncy or seaming tracks! Bangers are weaker against pace than spin, you also don't want our chumps having to bat last innings vs Mehedi or Shakib Link to comment
