Harmanpreet's boundaries came while giving room and hitting to the off as Aussies didn't have anyone on the boundary on the off side. Those shots barely crossed the infielder and were mostly placement than power. There wasn't one lusty blow which either cleared the boundary or the fielders couldn't get to due to power. Once the field spread it was mostly struggle for our batters.

When you look at the scorecard when the first delivery in the highlight is bowled, Smriti's score is 2(9). It's the same anchor mentality which held us back in Men's cricket for so long. This type of batting requires that once the batter gets in, they play a big knock. If they get out before cashing in on the slow start, the team struggles. This type of batting is good for ODIs but not for T20s. In the PP you don't want your openers to get a Kohli like 2(9) start. You want more like Head or Abhishek type players so even if they get out early, the team is not behind the eight ball.

This women's team keeps carrying the same set of players and mindset across all formats. Similar to how the men's team used to carry the likes of Rahane and Dhawan in T20Is around 2014-2016 despite repeated failures. Can't even blame their selection as the talent pool is still quite small in women's cricket. Might take another 5-8 years for 'equal pay' and WPL to actually bear fruit. Until then there will be more frustration for the fans.

Rohit Sharma stil has the fastest 100 in t20.Him taking up deliveries upfront did not cost them anything.Him not going big after getting set is what costed India and bowlers stinking up unable to defend anything costed Indian men's team for a decade.

He didn't score fastest hundred by taking up deliveries up front . To score 35 ball 100, you have to start hitting from over ons like Samson did from the first over itself.

Point is Rohit Sharma had the ability to score fast which he didn’t do it in knockouts.

 

He didn’t have to score fastest 100, all he had to was not waste the starts he got.Even in 2022 he didn’t do it.

The reason why we lost a lot of big finals is him+BRat, & yes, him eating up deliveries up front even as late as 2021 WT20 is a fact!

Almost there.

 

Issue with women's cricket unlike men's is personnel is not there. I think we'll get there within a decade with WPL etc. Lots of gaping holes in the Indian side. Need more allrounders to extend batting plus other big hitters.

Kaur should have taken responsibility and faced all 6 deliveries in the final over. What was she thinking handing over strike to the bowlers? Cowardice.

 

And that over where Ghosh got run out, 18th I think, we scored just one run...Kaur decided to block 4 straight deliveries after that dismissal. Useless, statpadding knock, which would make Babar and Rizwan proud.

 

Australia were there for the taking, by their standards, they had a stinker with bat, ball and on the field (barring that direct hit runout). We lacked guts, plain and simple.

 

Mandhana is the female Kela, enough said. Should be dropped from T20s.

There is some hope. 

 

Maybe even NZ women will surrender against Pak, like their men.
