Ultimate_Game Posted October 20, 2024 Posted October 20, 2024 Was wondering what do we need to do to qualify for WTC final? It's a different matter we're unlikely to do much when we get there coz a one off match in seaming conditions is the worst possible match-up for us. But it would still be good to qualify and play in the final. But with this NZ loss, is there any realistic chance? The only series after the NZ one is against Aussies and winning 3rd straight series away in Aus is not likely to happen, especially with all the seniors the team is carrying. SA has easy series coming up against B'desh. What do they need to do to get past us?
BacktoCricaddict Posted October 20, 2024 Posted October 20, 2024 Honestly, I won't shed any tears if this doesn't happen. One fewer match with senior baggage. Ultimate_Game and nevada 2
coffee_rules Posted October 20, 2024 Posted October 20, 2024 7 more tests .. need 3 wins to be safe. Expect turners in the next two tests and a shot in the dark down under.
Norman Posted October 20, 2024 Posted October 20, 2024 There was a points table simulator for the WTC which will help. I can't seem to find it.
putrevus Posted October 20, 2024 Posted October 20, 2024 What is the point in qualifying when our overrated fast bowling is not capable of delivering anything under pressure. India’s best bet to win ICC test finals is when it will be played in India. nevada 1
nitinbwj Posted October 20, 2024 Posted October 20, 2024 I would rather win this series and win a couple or draw in Australia. WTC is stupid and I will care when it happens in any other country other that EngLund nevada 1
Nikhil_cric Posted October 20, 2024 Posted October 20, 2024 Don't care about WTC. India should focus a lot more on white ball cricket especially Champions Trophy.

Lord Posted October 20, 2024 Posted October 20, 2024 SA have two home series v Pak,SL next year. Only if they win all they have a chance

FEIRLICHUNDGEMESSEN Posted October 20, 2024 Posted October 20, 2024 Depends on SA BD series. SA has 6 games to go, 2 in BD and 4 at home (2 pak and 2 against SL). If they win all six, India needs to win 2 against NZ and have 2-2 or better against Australia. In that scenario SA and India qualify Optimistic Case: BD beats SA 1-0, India can qualify with 2-1 against NZ and 1-4 against Australia Frustrated, Ultimate_Game and Master_better 1 2
Number Posted October 20, 2024 Posted October 20, 2024 What will this team do in WTC when it can't bat a single session against slightest of movement in India. Norman, Master_better, Frustrated and 5 others 5 2 1

Do you think Gabba would be possible if bowlers were defending 308. We will revisit bowlers greatness when they do actually do something under pressure. Edited October 20, 2024 by putrevus

It's the lower order (Jadeja & Ashwin) and bowlers who've been doing the heavy lifting forever while the specialist batsmen (except Jaiswal) have been passengers for a few years now.
