People dreaming about Jurel getting picked should know that idiotic TM Picked Saha over Pant last time in 1st test although Pant had century in Australia tour 2018-19 and scored century in practice match in 2020 tour . The whole facade to make KLR play India A is to pick him as opener for 1st test. It is that obvious.

Even if they pick KL, there will be another open slot since Rohit isn't available. 2 among KL/Jurel/Sarfraz will be there. Since Sarfraz is also fairly new, Jurel might still play

KL Rahul will get bowled by an off spinner by leaving. So him pplaying well in the nets mean nothing.

Eggsperience won't matter if you don't have ability anymore.

Heard Kohli was dismissed for 15. Apparently it was a typical Kohli innings these days - start off with a couple of boundaries and then get dismissed around 20.

Kohli was done years ago. 5 years and counting is not bad form, it's what he's capable of. Expecting a batsman who barely averages 30 over 5+ years to win you a series in Aus is expecting too much. He couldn't even do that at his peak, and his best contribution was running away from Aus last time which helped India win.

 

If Kohli pulls another runner and goes back to UK, we might have a chance else with 2 tailenders in the top 4 will result in another embarrassment. At the moment Kohli's well on track of becoming a sub 45 averaging batsman.

India has very little window to iterate the youngsters to form a core unit because of these overstaying seniors. Yash Dhull, Raghuvanshi  and lot of youngsters that need to be tested.

KL has to open unless injured.  yes he's inconsistent and mentally fragile, but still a better bet than Easwaran, and it aint close.

 

Jurel vs Sundar is the big question.  Sundar gives the additional bowling option and a handy one at that, but Jurel clearly has the batting ability and temperament.

pant has succeeded in every pitch in the world including bouncy pitches and has 4 SENA 100. Why he is being lumped with the other guys is beyond me

I would back any youngster over these has been seniors. And it's not as if likes of Kohli were helping us series in their prime. It was either youngsters (like against Aus in 2020-21) or our bowlers & lower order at home who made the difference. Seniors like Kohli were simply being carried all this time.

Sundar shouldn't be competing with Jurel. It will be Jadeja or Ashwin. I am sure only one of them play from that. Sundar has done well before. India needs a spinner especially offie against guys like Head.

Play both Jurel and Sundar. I back both of them ahead of our experienced batters.
