Why he is in India A squad for longer format is a mystery. He only averages low 40s in FC cricket, which for an Indian cricketer, does not deserve an India A spot. Selectors are picking all format teams based on IPL performances. The format he seems most suitable for is ODIs where we need to give him a chance.

Ruturaj gives me KL type loser vibes. He doesn't have the 'It' factor and not a fit for shorter formats. If we get players like Ruturaj along with Gill, we're doomed.

 

Ruturaj type players are good for domestics and playing minnow teams but can't rely on them against better opponents or for ICC tourneys.

It's telling that his best knocks this season have been in the middle order 

 

If he's at 4 it's grossly unfair on actual, better, middle order bats like Indrajith and Bhui. 

 

There's a place for him on the fringes of the ODIs T20is team , Abhishek hasn't maintained form.

 

But he should not be in the A team long format 11 let alone as captain. Shashwat Rawat should be in instead.
