Must be fake. I follow his game recaps, didn't see anything sensational like that. In fact unlike many big names, he was also genuinely appreciative of some games.

Anyway @randomGuy deserves appreciation for his passion as well as eternal optimism. He is one guy who always backs us to win (saw in Olympiad as well) when most of us get critical or negative.

Bad blunder. After rooks getting exchanged, Gukesh trapped the white bishop and got a theoretically winning endgame.

 

But blunders aren't uncommon. Anand in game 9 of Chennai, Kramnik once missed a mating sequence, Nepo last time. WCC final game pressure. And Gukesh had been mounting serious pressure on Ding for most of the match, Ding simply collapsed in the end after a difficult, long defence....and a difficult last few days.

 

Plain old Russian jealousy. They are unable to tolerate India's rise, for far too long they ran chess like their fiefdom, times are changing and Indian money/talent is being pumped in like no other country has done since USSR collapse. Anyway Filatov is a piece of ****, money launderer for Putin, he also sponsored 2012 Anand-Gelfand match which came under scrutiny later for corruption.

i havent  played Chess in 25 years but even i can see its a monumental error,its like Ding forgot where Gukeshs Bishop and proceeded to commit sepukku.

Not to demean the feat or play devil's advocate, it'd have been even greater if Carlsen was there. He's still the greatest but Gukesh has capabilities to beat.

 

This is like winning a CWC where Aus is not participating

Noone prevented Magnus from participating. How does this take away anything from what Gukesh has achieved?

Yeah special shoutout to @Tillu. Fantastic opening post, with so much info..damn. Better than a lot of cricket match/tournament threads on here. Referred it a few times for schedule/time formats etc.

Man who cares. Gukesh proved his worth as the sole winner of the Candidates as the youngest when the field was still incredibly strong minus Magnus. Regarding this match, easy to forget how inexperienced he is overall so obviously nerves have played a huge role

True but not Gukesh's fault. If he can beat Caruana in 2026, his critics won't be able to say much.....because most people believe in this kind of format, Caruana is almost as good as Carlsen, based on their 2018 match especially. 

 

I want him to beat Caruana in 2026, so that Carlsen is forced to come back and stake claim.

But if Magnus was there, Gukesh would have taken over as undisputed best player going around.

But Gukesh has lot of time for that
