Autonomous Posted December 18, 2024 Posted December 18, 2024 Fakhar seems to be out of form, se we might have to stick with Abdullah. But bigger problem is Babar Azam's lack of runs - if he can get some runs as well alongaide Saim who has had a decent run in Australia and has started off with a ton against SAF - we can have a huge chance to retain CT2025.

Pak has the capability to chase anything below 250-260 as it's their game. SA lost wickets to Agha..lol. They are bunch of chokers and idiots. They left out Bavuma, the only good ODI batsman they have in form. Agree. Having said that, I would always be grateful to SA, for ensuring our ICC title win after 11 yrs. Especially the way they choked while needing 30 from 5 overs, with 6 wickets left.
Nikhil_cric Posted December 18, 2024 Author Posted December 18, 2024 Saffer wickets like these are not straightforward flat pitches. Credit to Saim Ayub. Kohli would've failed on this pitch. putrevus 1

Some were clamouring for him to stay on till 2027 CWC
tapandrun Posted December 18, 2024 Posted December 18, 2024 (edited) Kind of a low scoring venue, pitch was tough but not that tough. Both teams batted poorly at various stages of the game lost wkts in cluster. Saim and Agha played old style of chasing. They didnt take any risk until a certain bowler and certain time. But lost wkt in the end to set some panic but were able to cross the line. Pak batters approach in the beginning was v.poor, they were going under 4 till a v.long time even when they were only 1 wkt down. Could have been costly which looked like at one stage as the RR was getting up and there was some panic and 3 wkts fell in short time. Saim has played some decent innings in recent time in all 3 formats Edited December 18, 2024 by tapandrun

He can't keep on carrying these useless passengers forever. Nikhil_cric 1
deathmonger Posted December 19, 2024 Posted December 19, 2024 Now that I see the records etc I realize the greatest BLEMISH against Pakistan as a test playing nation is that they have NEVER won an away series against a STRONG team (say top 3 for the period/decade). Their wins against: England came in the 80s (6th best) and 90s (7th best) New Zealand in the 90s (8th best) and 00s (7th best) Ind in 80s (5th best) WI in the 2010s (8th best) SL/Bang have never been a top 4 team ever (SL's peak was in the 00s when they were 5th). Never won in SA/Aus. Ind on the other hand have a few: Eng in 71 (1 in the 60s and 70s) WI in 71 (3 in the 60s and 2 in the 70s) Eng in 07 (3 in the 00s) Aus in 18-19* (3 in the 10s but okay Smith-Warner were missing so you can discount this if you want) Aus in 20-21 (1 in the 20s)

Number Posted December 19, 2024 Posted December 19, 2024 (edited) Shafique is such a consistent duckmaster, 13 in 65 intl innings. Edited December 19, 2024 by Number
rollingstoned Posted December 19, 2024 Posted December 19, 2024 Poyz look set for a decent score. Great weather and atmosphere at Newlands today.
The Hound Posted December 19, 2024 Posted December 19, 2024 SA still gets good crowd for a 50 over game, probably the best crowd after India in this format.
Number Posted December 19, 2024 Posted December 19, 2024 Babar managed to bat at a s/r of 75 on this track.
rageaddict Posted December 19, 2024 Posted December 19, 2024 (edited) Rizwan scoring 80 at Strike Rate of almost 100, this must be a 400+ track. Edited December 19, 2024 by rageaddict

Andy Posted December 19, 2024 Posted December 19, 2024 What happened to Jansen? Doesnt do well with the bat or ball anymore. He was a beast against India. Have we unearthed another India basher?

Have we unearthed another India basher? He got absolutely smashed when it mattered the most in the WT20 final and was one of the main reasons SA lost on that day. Even Kohli toyed around with him Laaloo 1
