Rightarmfast Posted March 6, 2025 Posted March 6, 2025 (edited) These guys need to get better education. If not, atleast, they should be given a workshop in PR and communications. They treat TV shows like their living room conversation. They make light comments which are blown out of proportion. But it's true, the 90's team, despite all the hype won not much. Their success was mainly against India in Sharjah. Edited March 6, 2025 by Rightarmfast raki05 1

Post 96 ,for a brief period SL were the top side from Asia From late 90s to early 2010s they were comfortably better than Pak So Pakistan were not even best from Asia even in the 90s Pakistan had a very strong side in 99 (best from Asia)true, but they had a mixed WC Edited March 6, 2025 by Suhaan raki05 1

Nikhil_cric Posted March 6, 2025 Posted March 6, 2025 He's right. That 90's ODI team could only bully India and NZ. They mostly lost to WI, OZ, SA, ENG and even SL from 94/95 onwards. raki05 1
Gollum Posted March 6, 2025 Posted March 6, 2025 7 hours ago, Lone Wolf said: All the wins they talk about against Ind were mostly from fixing days in Sharjah and Pak had a better team. Most of the beatdowns happened in India, if you check the H2H in that period. One of my earliest memories was a tri-series in 99-00 in India and Pak beat us every single time by huge margins including the final. In 1999-00 also we lost some 8-9 games against them (they were simply better, nothing suspicious), winning just 1, hence even in 2000s they had superior H2H due to 2000 results. In cricket we became better than them around 2002-03, in hockey sometime in late 2000s to early 2010s. Gulf in respective sports widened significantly post 2011 WC, 2014 Asian Games respectively.

Not the biggest fan but IPL too has lent a helping hand to Indian cricket.
Gollum Posted March 6, 2025 Posted March 6, 2025 In hockey, main reason we couldn't assert dominance over them in 2000s was Sohail Abbas, that guy was a cheat code. We would dominate 90% of the game and this guy would convert 3 out of 5 PCs and finish the game. Rehan Butt, Shakeel Abbasi too were elite, designated India bashers especially. We played many test series in that timeframe in both India and Pak, lost each one of them despite looking better for most parts....Pak PC conversion and efficiency of their forwards sealed our fate. Abbas was a menace to goras as well, especially the Dutch, like Yuvi vs Aus. Covered so many of their weaknesses and Pak was a consistent top 6 side for most of that decade. What Bovelander was for Dutch teams in 90s, Abbas was that in 2000s. Even Korerans were damn good in that era. Being Indian hockey fan was pure torture back then, culminating in Beijing non-qualifiation and London disaster (first time saw GK Sreejesh in London). May we never go back to that dark era. Even cricket got better only when Dada took over. Sgattick10, Lone Wolf, Tillu and 1 other 4

The day India reaches around 5000$ - 6000$ per capita they won't allow India to be industrialized at all. Plans would be set in motion like they tried with China during 1997-2004 period (includes that infamous US delegation trip to gauge their progress).. ofc they managed to foil those attempts but that's a lengthy topic. Just don't host olympics until then. raki05 1
putrevus Posted March 6, 2025 Posted March 6, 2025 What did Hafeez win for Pakistan. It is hilarious this idiot is talking about winning. Akram , Waqar or Inzi don't need certification from this moron about their greatness.

Gollum Posted March 6, 2025 Posted March 6, 2025 (edited) Olympics, Asian Games, CWG etc. are just money drains at this point. No wonder most Western countries have stopped bidding for these events, and Paris too used recycled venues. CWG is set to stop after no one expressed interest in hosting it. In near future expect most of these mega events to be hosted in Middle East countries, maybe sometimes East Asia and countries ruled by jingoistic despots (think Turkey, Hungary, wildcard candidates can be Kazakhstan or Uzbekistan). In a false sense of pride, countries like India, Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia, RSA, some South American countries may bid, but will be blunder IMO. Populist party in Poland lost, but the Itallians may fall in the trap under Meloni. Have you seen the state of Delhi's CWG venues today? They are in ruins, much like those of Rio, Athens' Olympic standard venues. Edited March 6, 2025 by Gollum Lone Wolf 1

And inspires national confidence in general. Indonesia, Turkey, Vietnam etc will also look to host it for similar reasons. South Korea and China's perceptions/confidence increased greatly post their Olympics. CWG sucks and should be eliminated that is true. AuxiliA 1

Hosting any sort of world sporting event other than cricket is drain on economy for India. But when whole country is starved for even one gold medal when world events occurs. The lack of infrastructure for developing sports culture stares at all our faces. So there should be an attempt to host some events even if it is not olympics and build infrastructure for youngsters to develop interest in sports.Sporting culture is must for healthy nation. Developing infrastructure for all sports should be priority for Indian govt. That should include hosting some world events. Edited March 6, 2025 by putrevus raki05 and AuxiliA 2
