Earlier Kohli had said this

"It's very difficult to explain to people how grounding it is to just come back to your family every time you have something which is intense, which happens on the outside," Kohli said at the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) Innovation Lab Indian Sports Summit before IPL 2025

"I don't think people have an understanding of what value it brings to a large extent. And I feel quite disappointed about that because it's like people who have no control over what's going on are kind of brought into conversations and put out at the forefront that, 'oh, maybe they need to be kept away',” Kohli said

"If you ask any player, do you want your family to be around you all the time? You'll be like, yes. I don't want to go to my room and just sit alone and sulk. I want to be able to be normal. And then you can really treat your game as something that is a responsibility. You finish that responsibility, and you come back to life,” Kohli added.

"Like, there could be different situations happening in your life all the time. And that allows you to be absolutely normal. Not in a vague sense, but in a very real way that you finish your commitment, your responsibility, and then you come back to your house, you are with family, and there's absolutely normalcy in your house and normal family life goes on. So, for me, that is absolutely a day of immense pleasure. And I would not miss any opportunities to go out and spend time with my family whenever I can."

BCCI can't apply any rule till Virat and Rohit are in the team.

They want to roam, picnic, party ,shoot ads even if they are not performing.

They are doing this for PR as cameras will be only on Virat and Anuska during the tour.

When players ask for perks, they better perform also.Nothing wrong in asking for perks as long as they perform.

Whiteball cricket, they have done well, test cricket has gone to dogs under Rohit's captaincy.

BCCI idiots need to cut this nonsense that they will dictate on what is best for players.

Players are not some commodities, they have wants and needs.

Having family is not an issue IMO but these players must respect team decorum. Cricket is a team sport where bonding among players is crucial...so they must travel in team bus, have dinner together with team members etc.

Exactly.

The other thing is they need to balance out non-playing time with family and team. The youngsters benefit from pep talks, having lunches/coffee breaks with the seniors between matches in the middle of tours as well. These should not be compromised just because a senior player's family is around.

Are they not doing that?

Apparently not.

Kohli, Pandya and Bumrah does not travel with the team and fly separately in their private planes. They don't travel in team bus either and go privately by cabs/taxis.

Also, Kohli during last UK tour did not stay in team hotel and lived in an undisclosed location for family privacy.

SF 49ers owner in 70s-80s flew families and gave all amenites which was unheard of in 1980s to not just players but their families too. They were the most successful team on the field too.

Indian teams not withstanding recent slump in tests have been doing well in all formats for more than a decade.I don't see any reason for BCCI or anyone else to whine about their performances.

BCCI is not lacking money to spend to keep their most important assets (players) happy.

Most important thing BCCI can and should do is make sure all players play some FC cricket.

Are they doing that even during matches. What do the players do when playing in India then.

The amount of coverage these guys get everywhere, them wanting some privacy is not over the top request in my opinion.

Most players are making enough money these days to their fly families at their own expense. If I am not wrong  I remember some player's wife saying she paid for own expense to be there during 2019 world cup.

What is the policy? Anushka was there in Dubai anyway :dontknow:

I think the BCCI allowed family for only one game per player. Anushka was there for one game, I think.

Again, not sure how BCCI can prevent Anushka from buying her own ticket and paying for the hotel room from her pocket

Let her come & go..

But the players have to travel by team bus, have team dinners or even share rooms if BCCI rules mandate it.

Said all that to keep wife happy. Secretly praying bcci doesn't take him seriously.
