Ultimate_Game Posted April 19, 2025 Posted April 19, 2025 If RR has to do anything of note in IPL, they better kick out Dravid. The guy's useless and manages to bring a team down with his "left field" thinking. He thinks he's a genius but is actually someone who would struggle to organize a p***ing contest in a brewery. You'll always notice that his teams start making extremely weird decisions and complicate things for no reason. When the world is trying to make things simple, Dravid specializes in making things more complex. It's a trend with Dravid and here're some prominent examples... 1. 2023 WC Final: He was the one who went down the path of "pitch" tampering for the WC 2023 final when all it needed was a traditional Indian pitch and the cup was ours. But nope, Dravid had to somehow make the difference. And if he wanted to make a slowish pitch then pick Ashwin for crying out loud instead of an out of form Siraj. But nope, tampered the pitch to make it slow and then didn't even pick an extra spinner to make the most of the supposedly slow pitch. 2. Giving the last over to Sandeep against a 45 year old Dhoni in this IPL when Archer had figures of 3 overs 1/13. You can blame the captain all you want, and he should be blamed. But these type of decisions are only seen with Dravid "coached" teams. 3. Giving the super over to Sandeep last match when Archer was the obvious go-to option. And if you think Dravid had nothing to do with it then I've a palace to sell you. 4. Our worst ODI WC campaign was in 2007 under the able "leadership" of Dravid. We were kicked out by B'desh and SL when we arguably had some of our best players in the team. 5. In 2014 RR were topping the table and were the odds on favorites to make it to the playoffs. They were so certain that guru Dravid decided to experiment the last 2-3 games and started switching up the team. As a result they lost 2-3 games in a row and there last match was against MI. They were still the favorites to go through as MI had to better their NRR and had to chase a total of 190 in around 14.3 overs. And MI went through as Tare finished the match with a 6 and bumping up MI's NRR in the process. The funny thing is that had RR simply bowled a wide and let MI win, RR would've made it to the playoffs with a better NRR. But the so called genius coaching RR didn't think about it and as a result the winning 6 took MI to a better NRR. This is the match I was talking about: https://www.espncricinfo.com/series/pepsi-indian-premier-league-2014-695871/mumbai-indians-vs-rajasthan-royals-56th-match-734041/full-scorecard 6. And now we're seeing RR unable to chase 8-9 runs in the last over with wkts in hand, and have snatched defeats from almost certain winning positions which would make the SA teams proud! And the common denominator in all this? Yup, "mentor" Dravid! Dravid should only be there for coaching under-age cricket teams and should not be doing anything with a team which is more senior than an u-19 one. He's a typical headmaster who thinks he knows stuff but is tactically and strategically incompetent. Hope BCCI and IPL teams see through Dravid's charade and keep him away from senior teams. Dravid may be a nice person and have his heart in the right place but a strategic thinker and a cricketing mind he's definitely not! raki05, express bowling, rollingstoned and 1 other 1 3
tapandrun Posted April 19, 2025 Posted April 19, 2025 RR has picked the team in wrong way, apart from hetmyer there is no os player. All they have local batters and 5 os bowlers. IPl teams are not set that way you need 2 os batters 2 os bowlers, add couple of ind capped batters and 1-2 uncapped high potential bater and bowlers. A 11 can not be set-up with 3 os bowlers and 1 os batter. Apart from their openers no1 is has played an important role for their team teams ever apart from rana. The team is set-up around hopes then reality. Jurel plays at #5 does he have the game to have +ive impact playing 5-15 balls ??? he has no power game no field manipulations. at #5/6/7... batters should have atleast 1-2 areas where they are 100% if the ball lands there they can smack it for 4/6. Alot of lower order hitting is left to hetmyer, he is a good hitter but is a waste is such a line-up he targets leg-side often there should be some1 who can take some pressure off when bowlers are bowling to certain plan to him. Jaiswal is making impact-less 50s , why is dubey playing as pure batter at $6/7 does he have the power game ??? out of tushar, theeksana, hasranga only hasaranga should be in playing 11. Even in this match they should be sent hasaranga before dube who has played and scored quick runs at intnl level. last match how can sandeep bowl in superover a head of Archer and while batting they sent parag to play. seeing that sandeep can not bowl at high pressure situtation they bowled him last over this match 10-12 more runs are score off him in last over.

The current team is still good enough and is under-achieving with Dravid in the think-tank. That's a consistent theme with Dravid's teams. Dravid's weird theories and decisions sinks a team. Going with Sandeep over Archer has Dravid's fingerprints all over the decision. And even if you talk about team selection and composition, who do you think had inputs there? Dravid played a huge role in selecting the squad and selecting these teams. He should be kicked to the curb else RR will become another RCB. rollingstoned and raki05 1 1

Their players have some obvious limitations. Jaiswal is good and we all love him, but he isn't a 200 SR player...he is a 150-160 SR batter and slows down usually after pP. Jurel is another one, who isn't a power hitter, he too can bat at 140-150 SR but expecting him to score 25(12) isn't gonna happen...he will score 15(12) or at max 20(12). He is talented but don't have that gear. Parag has the potential to hit big sixes, but his range too is limited. You can easily contain his strokeplay. Nitish Rana has to fire...he is the one who can bat at 170-180 SR. This season has added new dimensions in his strokeplay. RR has a good team if their bowlers can restrictions to 170-175...above that in a big stadium like Jaipur. Its always gonna be a challenge Frustrated, tapandrun, nevada and 2 others 3 2

Its always gonna be a challenge In their entire set-up there is only 1 os batter they have no other option, and they have some 5 os bowler. How can a team be set-up like that. How can 2 os play in playing 11, there has to be 1 local spinner or they need to develop 1. All teams have 2 os batter and 2 os bowlers this combination wrks best for IPL teams. Both Sandeep and Tushar are not high potential local pacers. They are relying more on Archer to give break-threw in PP and hoping hasaranga to bowl eco. spell and take wkts LSG is hoping to out bat opposition with 4 os batters in 11 and hoping that rathi be eco. and get wkts. Texan Posted April 20, 2025 Posted April 20, 2025 They are overrating Sandeep Sharma by constantly giving him the last few crucial overs. He leaked 27 runs in the last over this time and also bowled a poor super over the last time. Yes, he had been moderately successful in IPLs, but his overs are best finished off early and ideally should be used only if wicket offers some movement. Otherwise, at his pace, he becomes a sitting duck for batting assaults. Yudhvir Singh or Madhwal needs to be brought in. Batting line-up is decent. Jurel is not really a T20 player and Shubham Dubey has been useless. 14-year old kid showed lot of potential and should be persisted with. Hettmeyer needs to start firing soon. He hasn't been able to close out matches that he should have. raki05, Ultimate_Game and tapandrun 2 1
Lone Wolf Posted April 20, 2025 Posted April 20, 2025 RR has always backed younger talent. Sandeep and Tushar are main probelms. Madhwal Ashok Sharma or Yudhvir must be backed. raki05, express bowling, Lord and 2 others 2 3

Don't recall most of the season but do remember that RR was looking the best and most well-rounded team with 3 games to go for the end of the league stage before the great scientist Dravid decided to tinker and experiment. The one memory of the season is that MI was literally knocked out. They needed 5 runs off the 14.3rd delivery to have a better NRR with only a run to win. All RR needed was to bowl a wide and they're through on higher NRR. Nope! We all saw what happened and that was the highlight of Tare's career and we all saw Guru Dravid throw his hat on the ground in anger after that delivery. I was surprised at that reaction though as he was the architect of the RR's downfall with his needless experimentation.
