She claims it could be a sw glitch and should be investigated further Mary Schiavo has some past vendetta against Boeing, don't take her too seriously. Also, software glitches don't move switches mechanically from on to off. Not to forget that the switches were later moved from off to on before the crash indicating mechanical movements instead of a software interference.

Second You still cannot expect a software glitch to move switches mechanically from on to off. Fuel being cutoff while the switches are still in on positon can be caused by a software glitch, but that's not the case here since the first officer was able to visually verify switches being in off position

Relay switches have locking mechanism so it doesn't seem like they can be controlled by software.

I have worked in Telecom for most part, ,mostly on Base Station software in areas of what is generally called OA&M. I have been involved in so many s/w features that reads hardware registers of heat sensors, radiation , and take hardware actions like turning on fans, shutting off calls or handing off calls to next base stations that are not overloaded (s/w action) , hardware units , under what we called as Overloaded condition. I can imagine if there is s/w that takes hardware actions like in a Airplane that has many moving parts dealing with hydraulicas, thrust, heat, fuel, fire, accidental actions by pilots etc. I am pretty sure s/w actions on hardware is a reality in most Self-Organized-Networking software.
IndianRenegade Posted February 2 Posted February 2 If this turns out to be accurate, it is massive safety issue & Boeing, Amuricans will be screwed!

Oh man..this is horrible..why does it happen only in India, all over the world they would be using boeing Planes? Sabotage? Btw Railways in India by stats is safer than air travel, If you consider derailment and collision deaths alone. Edited February 2 by randomGuy

It's NDTV by the way, owned by the same person to whom our PM reports to. By the way, this could be a tactical move to put US under pressure (after that Hindenburg report).
