Air India Flight 171 from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick crashes into medical students' hostel: 280+ fatalities

Media has reached Gatwick airport and looking for any frenzy relatives , crying  and asking for information. The reporter is more sad that no relatives have reached the airport yet to capture some dramatic scenes of human misery.  TRP Vultures

Not really, with these planes both the engines are very close to the fuselage so a few birds can easily cause both engines to fail.

 

Even just one and the Pilot under a state of panic can shutdown the wrong engine..

Aviation experts have mentioned below issues can potentially cause dual engine failure

 

1. Flock of Birds stuck into both engines

2. Volcanic eruptions which can melt 

3. Engine Freeze due to cold

4. Power surge/power failure

5. Fuel deprivation 

6. Any sabotage

 

2nd & 3rd are out of equation.

First doesnt seem in this case.

Bird strikes can be ruled out. If there was a strike, engines would sputter and the bird stuck in the engine can cause black smoke coming out of leaked fuel. There was no smoke from the 32 seconds the flight was on air before strike. How can a fully checked on maintenance flight with all the SOPs, landed in Ahmedabad properly and then can't take off more than 600 feet? More, I think about it, it seems like a sabotage. The worst airplane tragedy for India and even Air India (since the Khalistans blew up Kanishka).

Belief in Aandavan helps. Even as we speak, there arer 1000s of flight operating worldwide and there are probably tens of flights that took of in Ahmedabad today after the crash

It's not a given though. Bird strikes can cause shutdown without actually generating visible flames

Just saw a selfie of a couple and their 3 young kids on that plane before the accident. They were relocating to UK. The tragedy struck.
