He probably knows 4-5 names only that include Undercutter, avesh Mukesh Krishna and latest addition is Kamboj. Gambhir and Morkel called Gurnoor and Yudhvir for an assessment session, probably during the NZ series. I guess they were not that happy with them or thought them to be wotk-in-progress. I guess they just want ready products or pacers who are thought to be accurate ( even if they are not so against attacking batters ). Lone Wolf and Mosher 1 1

He wasn't ready for emerging Asia Cup level and certainly not International class. Give me Simarjeet over this dud anyday of the week. This Kamboj bowled well in one odd IPL match (nothing earth shattering either). CSgay fanboys hyped him to the moon and that mallu Johns guy on X. Yudhvir has bowled far more good spells in IPL and Ranji trophy on unhelpful pitches with older SG ball. He was extremely lethal with new ball as well. Even worse.. the Indian debutant was bowling 8-10kph slower in his first spell than the 36 year old in the opposition bowling his 23rd over of his spell while playing his 4th test in a row. As of now only Eden Apple Tom and Yash Thakur have bowled 140 k+ regularly last Ranji Season. But Eden Apple Tom played just 1 match last season, the final. Did well. Is just 20 years old. Has a lot of potential. Has a good seam position too. Looking forward to how he does this season. Must get an IPL contract. Gurnoor Brar has played Ranji, has height of 6'5"+, gets bounce and is maybe 137 k+. Can bat a bit. Averages 25.7 with the ball in FC. Can be in the pool. “Eden Apple Tom” don’t care if he can’t field, bat and is a trundler, just for the name get him in all 3 formats Stan AF, express bowling, Mosher and 1 other 3 1
BacktoCricaddict Posted July 25, 2025 Posted July 25, 2025 Kamboj FC stats 24 matches 22.88 average 44 Strike rate Has a 10-fer The possibilities are: (1) He is good, but for some reason is struggling on his debut - maybe nervousness? TM confusing him? Dukes ball? (2) Our domestic batting quality is terrible and so his stats are meaningless. If it is (2) and you can't rely on domestic statistics, then how do you judge bowlers except by "eye-test"? And if eye-test is the only way, it opens the door for all sorts of subjective shenanigans including favoritism, PR-ism, regionalism etc. etc.

I never got why can’t someone bowl line and length at a good pace or need to compromise pace . I mean isn’t that how you begin bowling in cricket. Trying to bowl fast to knock out the stumps.its not like most of these 120-30 k trundlers are accurate either like Philander, McGrath, Walsh and even Asif BacktoCricaddict and express bowling 2

Not everyone is plonked straight into the national team as an opening bowler. At stage some people have to check if the standards they are coming in with are good enough to earn a national cap against the world's best batsmen. Kamboj who is struggling to cross 125k from his first ball, should have never started a game as an opening bowler and the TM should have simply said that people need to hit a higher standard to play international cricket even if he was put forward as an option to the selectors. vvvslaxman Posted July 25, 2025 Posted July 25, 2025 I cannot vouch for anyone at this point. 5 day test is a whole different kettle. India still have to iterate and find out. The guy we hype today may get trolled after he makes debut. You need more than skills to be successful in Tests. You need brain first.
putrevus Posted July 25, 2025 Posted July 25, 2025 Thakur would have been fine if the pitches were like 2021 series. But on these flat wickets he has been exposed. He did his bit with bat. When our genius Bumrah cannot make any impression with bowling why are we blaming Thakur. How many top order batsman Bumrah has taken in this series. BacktoCricaddict 1

Sooda Posted July 25, 2025 Posted July 25, 2025 The following should have been tried on recent A tours - Gurnoor Singh Brar, Umar Mir, Yudhvir Singh. Who knows if they're any good though

Just good stats have never meant anything. Which is where selectors come in. They should first make a pool of players with qualities needed for test cricket. Regarding pace bowling, it is either bowlers with 140 k+ pace or tall, hit the deck pacers with steep bounce or 135 k+ pacers with tremendous skid off the deck. Among this pool, choose the ones with low FC bowling averages and / or good accuracy. Edited July 25, 2025 by express bowling Mosher, BacktoCricaddict, singhvivek141 and 1 other 4

We know their calibre in internationals. Simply put, lack of pace has no substitute. Unless you are super accurate like Philander, Vaas, Pollock. Bhuvi was very decent bowler, he could have been better Dhoni abused him like anything in 2014 series.Still he was fine under helpful conditions. All those bowlers are/were far better than this guy.
