Bumrah, Siraj are not built for 5 Test Match series

Quite clear-- both of them are not fit enough for a grueling 5 match. Less said about others, the better.

 

Bumrah is panting in just 3 matches.

Siraj is spent force by the 4th test.

Akshdeep lasted just 2 matches.

 

This 5 test match series nonsense must end.

We won both our BGT in Aus 2-1 in 4 test match series.

 

We would have won the series vs england 2-1  in 2021 , if not for the 5th match.

I wonder why Starc, Hazelwood, Cummins rarely get injured or lose pace in a series. A bowler like Boland barely gets any chances. We debut 3-4 new trundlers every series and hope they stick  not like Bumrah plays every bilateral too like them.

No five test series seperates pretenders like our Indian fast bowlers from acutal fast bowlers like Aussies or even England.

 

India needs to find more durable fast bowlers. Not pretender who breaks down at drop of the hat

When test cricket becomes as financially rewarding as franchise cricket, there may be a turnaround.  Other than personal pride and the feeling that - somehow, you are warrior fighting for the nation - what incentive is there to slog it out in tests?

What incentive guys like Cummins and co have to play so many long series for decade plus . It is called pride in your profession .

 

Our lazy guys cannot match them.They are being given all the comforts yet they stink.

This is why I rate 1977-94 WI higher than 1995-2009 Aus. They won so many of these 5 test series away from home, including by 4-0, 5-0 scorelines, very tough task. Aussies haven't won an away Ashes post 2001.

The workload back then was not as intense as it is today. 

 

Also, the batsmen were very conservative in approach then unlike willingness to improvise you see now.

Bingo. It is like why play 5 sets in grand slams and not 3......5 sets tennis is what separates men from boys, anyone can fluke in 3 sets (a la Zverev). True champions know how to bounce back and take their bodies to the limit. 

 

I think 3/4 test series suits us, but gold standard in our sport is that legendary WI team which could win 5/6 test series in Aus, Eng, Ind, series after series.

They were sufficient rest days then. Even one between the game.

Workload for quicks was more than, just due to how much FC was played back then. Just check how many overs the county/Shield players back then would bowl every season. All big WI, Aus, RSA, Ind, Pak, NZ players used to play county or some FC. 

 

Even as recently as 90s, check Wasim/Waqar's workload in CC.

They had battery of fast bowlers, one after another even the fill ins were very good like winston benjamin, wayne Daniels were very good.

 

No team past or present can play them a series and win that series.They would demolish Aussies of 2000s with utmost ease in a series.

 

They are the greatest team ever assembled.

Only advantage ATG Aus has over WI....Shane Warne, only he could have been the difference between both sides.

Funny that despite being inferior to Aus for most of the last 25 years, they have won away Ashes more recently. 2010-11 series was some display !!!! Aussie fans must be so pissed, so many times they came close but lost narrowly or 2-2 draw.
