Gautam Gambhir, chief curator clash at The Oval

The narration starts withe the curator telling Gambhir not to swear.

The real question is:  What prompted Gambhir to swear in the first place?

Can't blindly accept that the Curator is totally in the right here. Maybe he said something patently stupid that triggered GG.

What if he said "you were bloody wrong to bat in the last hour at Manchester." ? That would trigger me, too. And, in that case, I wouldn't blame GG for telling the guy to stay in his lane.

Reserving judgment until upstream details are made clear.

Our white cock sucking shishupals will trust fat groundsmen. Gambhir as a coach may not be as successful as we expected as an outcome but he is always behind his team.

if that is the accurate transcript gambhir is going to get crucified

yea. very classist statement. But won't be shocked if he had said that. Just trying to get both sides of the story. Still he could have avoided such statement.

Depends on the context.

If the world's richest man Elon Musk tells an immunologist that mRNA vaccines  caused Bronny James' heart problem, the immunologist can say "you are after all just a tech disruptor, not an immunologist. Know your place and stay in your lane." Nothing classist there.

But if the groundsman just told the Indian staff politely not to step near the pitch and Gambhir said "you are after all a groundsman", well, then it is classist. That is the groundsman's job to protect the pitch.

But in today's world, no one has patience for context.

F*** off, go report whatever you want… You are only a groundsman.

This bloody statement shows, what kind of entitled human being he is?

When he talks about soldiers and patriotism , his statements reek hypocrissy. He has no clue what soldiers do and how much they put their lives on line. Those statements are nothing but punchline to make himself look good.

"You are just a groundsman" is problematic and can land him in trouble. Don't know how some are defending it. Under no circumstances is it acceptable.

If a brilliant software guru told me how to teach polysaccharide metabolism, I would tell them "you are just a software architect, so shut it."  And that is not classist, and should be acceptable.

It all depends on what the curator told Gambhir at the top of the spat.

TBF, we should not reflexively side with GG either. If the initial interaction was polite and the groundsman told him something that was within his purview, then Gambhir should be rightly crucified for the "you are just a groundsman" statement. Context that no one seems to be reporting.

Its not that. the way he said it sounded bad.

You are just a groundsman is not the way to address the issue. It sounds elitist.

What if the groundsman was stepping out of his bounds and trying to give him gyaan on how he should've handled the last hour at Manchester?

But it won't  sound like that for a groundsman as it is not a high paying job. Software job is a much sought after job. He is a coach plus a public servant. So he needs to have some standard.

But the Khota guy's interview suggest he is trying to soft soap it. Clearly Gauti has lost his temper.

Statement from Indian side, "The curator yelled at the support staff when they were getting an ice box, Gautam Gambhir objected that. The way he spoke, irked Gambhir. Everyone knows the curator at here is not the easiest person to deal with". (Sahil Malhotra)

That is a pretty vague statement. "yelled" at . what did he say. Can he share that?
