Looking at it the wrong way, bazball works for them and have significantly improved their performance and results, before bazball they won something like one test match out of 17, it almost reversed after that. They may not have won series against Aus and India but have certainly won more matches overall.

They've always been and still are poor players of spin and that was deliberately a reused pitch.

What exactly is their philosophy? 

 

Zak Crawley averages 31 after 60 tests. Now because his strike rate is big (65), does it make him a better batsman than someone else averaging 31? 

 

By playing less balls in an innings, they are giving their bowlers less time to recover and forcing a result. Forcing a result doesn't mean they are going to win, not at all. What's the whole purpose?

Yea Australia's strike rate for this series is 72.07 where for England it is 65.73

Perhaps Sundar at #3 is a better batting lineup than Bazball.

 

In the end, it's not philosophy, but adaptability that matters. In Kolkata, if everyone had played out time like Sundar, India would've won. In Gabba 2021, India won because they did the opposite - Pant went at 4-5 RPO paving the road to victory. You need to be able to do it all and adapt as needed.

Sundar scored less than run a ball 50 at the oval with 1 wicket in hand. But for that partnership we were practically gone.  I don't think there are many cricketers in the world that can adapt to different situations. First of all you need technique to dead bat for long period. It is a skill in itself. Murali vijay, Pujara did fantastically.  Heck Labu played test match in world cup final. All the heavy lifting was done by Travis head.

We won twice in Australia our way. Sure, bazball is entertaining when it works, but what have they won against top teams home & away? Bazball had to evolve with time, and they haven't done it yet. You have to respect the conditions and situations of the game, but most of their batsman play in the same fashion all the time.

don't know why Stokes elected to bat first in the two matches, their batsmen will throw bat at everything when they don't know the exact target

Makes sense. When they are expected to score between 4 to 5 rpo but alien pitches don't support your technique and with no target in sight they just give up.

Read an article by Ian chappell about Travis head. THere is  strike rate reference he made in that column. Looking at the link i find England has the best strike rates since Jan 1, 2022. Yet here we are .. they are getting humiliated. YOu can't have all players playing at high strike rate which means they take a lot of risks. Apart from Pant who hits an insane balls/6 of 39 in Tests since that period look at Duckett. HE hits a 4 every 9th ball.
