Washington is better batsmen than jadeja

Washington is the most technicallty correct batsman in India. The only problem-- he doesn't have an attacking game. Perfect for overseas though. As a fan, you need to accept him as a defensive batsman who arrest collapses. Also, when you take account of his bowling, he is an invaluable asset. I will have him in the XI all the time.

Better than Jadeja? Maybe not as yet. Need to give him atleast 2 years at No 5/6 to make that call.

but as for today--he should have batted ahead of jadeja in these testing conditions --- infact ahead of nair

Both are same level of batsman. Same level of good batting temperament,

I think Sundar has a better technique, not too many glaring weaknesses but just about adequate and not outstanding in anything.

at this stage Jadeja is a better hitter relatively speaking. Sundar hopefully improve.

However both very scratchy type stroke less batsmen.

i would say they are equals.

But wonder why they bat a technically correct batsman with no attacking game at 8. He should be batting at 5

Not yet but he has higher ceiling. Jaddu realized his batting potential too late.

That is also because they kept him batting at 7-8

Making the same mistake with Washi

No he does not have any higher ceiling than Jadeja. Jadeja was better bowler also not to forghet better fielder.

Jadeja has improved his batting every year he has been become part of test team. Not many players can say that about themselves.

Jadeja averages 37.8 after 84 tests.

Sundar is averaging 44 after 12 test.

Jadeja has managed this after 7 times the career Washington Sundar has had. So the sample size is relatively very vast.

The comparison is unfair as Washington Sundar is at a very nascent stage in his test career.

It is great for Indian team that both are averaging as much as specialist batsmen.

Sundar is constantly improving. He used to be strokeless in ipl for SRH but this season he smashed a couple of entertaining 50s for Gujarat. If he's this competent at 25, he will easily eclipse Jaddu in batting in a few years once he hits the peak
