Why did they released it after 18 years?? Anyway the slap wasn't even hard that a grown man should cry over it lol

Sreesanth didn't cry because of pain from that slap/blow. It is because he looked up to Bhajji as a big brother or sorts. So to get that sort of reaction in public view must have been overwhelming for him. Sreesanth was always an emotional person.

And he didn't deserve any of that, he just said 'tough luck paaji' to Harbhajan during that handshake, that response was OTT and disrespectful. Probably some superiority complex as well because of North-South thing, have seen Harbhajan yell at even senior stalwarts like Dravid/Laxman when they made mistakes in the field. Not just about Sree being from South, even Dhoni was mocked in his early days by guys like Yuvraj for being Bihari. Have heard that Punjab based Jats look down upon even non-Jats of their state.

I have to disagree here.

Back than, Sreesanth was in the news for making faces/getting into other people's personal spaces than his bowling. His bad behaviour was masked under "aggression/passion".

It was only a matter of time before he said/did something to the wrong person.

Sreesanth crying like a bitch after all his bravado was just a full circle moment. Honestly, I have zero sympathy for him.

Before that tour, Aus came to India for a 7 match ODI series. Monkey chants/mannerisms were directed towards Symonds in some of the venues, and Wankhede even had to ban some of the fans for life. Monkey-chants controversy in Mumbai too

mumbai-india-spectators-make-monkey-impr

Very clear what was going on, our people pretending otherwise (maa ki or Hanuman angle) were/are only lying to themselves.

That test was heated, many wrong decisions against us, Hogg abusing Dravid. Under Ponting, those Aussies were very badly behaved and resorted to cheating like claiming bumped catches. I accept all of that.

But we should never have responded by dehumanizing a black person in their team.....Indians themselves were dehumanized by colonialists for centuries, even had our people displayed in human zoos in Europe as recent as early 20th century.

Aussie board too didn't support Symonds, and he retired in 2008, when he still had another 3-4 years cricket left in him. All the other characters from both sides of that test are now friends through IPL and coaching/commentary gigs...but read that Symonds never recovered, became an alcoholic and now dead (was drunk at the time of car crash). Sachin too placed emphasis on his friendship with Bhajji over justice, a black mark in his otherwise flawless career.

Wasn't this match after the monkeygate incident? I thought the incident was what led to this crowd behavior

Posted

Harbhajan recently expressed regret for this in Ashwin podcast.

No point bringing it up when both players have moved on.

Nope, before our tour to Aus. Right after the inaugral WT20.

Yep even in this day and age some Jatt Sikhs barely tolerate non Jatts and mete out worse to Mazhabi Sikhs. India can be a cesspool of bigotry.

So when you cannot take sledging, behave like a violent goon, explains entire north indian mentality.

Bhajji was always a racist prick, and was obnoxious by every account.

Why does bhajji get a free pass on his obnoxious behavior and Sreesanth doesn't?

And good job making fun of a guy crying because he felt betrayed , then you are the same guys crying about how men's emotions are not taken seriously and men's mental health is not taken seriously.

The punishment was not enough. Should have been dropped for a year from int'l cricket.

Now I remember Matthew Hayden had called him an obnoxious little weed just a year before. And he proved him right.

Agree Completely. He should have been dropped for an year and fined 50% of his annual contract. And also banned from 2 IPL seasons.

On the related note, Sreesanth's daughter snubbed Bhajji once due to this incident. And he says that it broke him inside and he deserved that punishment.

Good thing they are getting bajaoed in Canada. India govt should hasten their immigration to Canada so they no longer have power in Punjab.

Have you ever seen Sreesanth play?

He was picking fights with Ponting, Symonds, Hayden etc.

You can't go around starting fights and cry when you get a taste of your own medicine.

Ok and Bhajji was extremely obnoxious too by all accounts.

How does that justify physical violence? People supporting physical violence tells a lot about their mentality.

Lot of support for a fixer in this thread.

He was never selected after the fixing episode and rightfully banned. Doesn't justify the physical violence while he was playing.

How about not starting fights in the first place?

It doesn't and he has publicly apologised and expressed regret over it.

Still only guy is getting bashed in this thread. Sreesanth wasn't a saint either before his fixing too.

Again defending physical violence. Explains exactly why North India is such a cesspool with road rage and regular lynching and violence on the street.

Mentality hi sada hua hai, civilization never reached them.

He never apologized to Sreesanth directly

The guy who commits physical violence will always be criticized more
