Shreyas Iyer for Sanju Samson would be our best batting line up in T20s

Iyer had a chance to even play test cricket but he quit the team, unless something very tragic happened, I don't think there is any excuse for him to leave the team.

Guys like this should be kept far away from the Indian team.

What do you mean quit the team?

He left the team on morning of the match due to personal reasons. Unless there is something very tragic happened is there any other reason to leave.

Don't think we can field a playing11 without a WK.   Unfortunately both Samson and Pant are substandard keepers (in T20 format).  They both hv similar avg of around 23 at a pathetic SR of 120.  I Kishan & Jeetesh are also full of sh!t.  We don't hv a single decent WK for T20s right now.

Back issue which has been troubling him for more than one year. If he wants to focus on white ball cricket, all the best.

We have better red ball players

Then why play first match. No one stopped him from quitting, why leave on morning of the match.

Maybe it is best he plays IPL and rests his body and leave Indian team for fitter guys.

He probably played because of BCCI's action against him and Ishan last year.

Plus shouldn't physio be telling BCCI about his back issue. Why is he telling BCCI.

BCCI was 100% right in taking action against quitters who don't want to do hard yards in red ball cricket.

As IPL becomes more lucrative red ball cricket will be under constant threat with players opting for easy route and BCCI has to safe guard red ball cricket.

My two cents, he saw writing on wall as far as his selection to test team and quit.

Out of the current lot,I still feel Pantatunga is best of the lot,I don't like him in t20s though

Why should he leave white ball? Pandya has been doing the same.

Pandya has gotten scott free without any repercussions that has set a bad precedent. He should have been dealt also.

Pandya was even rewarded by brain dead selectors by making him t20 captain.IMO these guys don't have to play test cricket but they have to play some domestic redball cricket in order for them to play IPL and be eligible for whiteball teams.

if Sanju does not open he sure will lose his place in Ind side if the TM and selectors are not stubborn with his selection and turn a bling eye liek they did for Pant into20is.

In mo he mistimes a lot, he faces dots and then tries to hit one. This mistime, chips and get out of jail kind of shots works when playing in pp.

He has bad technique for a mo t20 batters, his trigger movement is to go back into crease and then a v.small press forward he wants to drives. This works in pp where he can chip over circle, or time well in the gap and rest is done by fast out field.  in open field these shots will be stopped for max 2 runs or be caught.

If he wants to go back into the crease then he need better and faster bat speed, think of it like pulling an spinner in to leg-side. if you go back you need to get power from bat speed in to the shot.

hence even if he has power his shots looks like lacks power and even he is good timmer he lacks timming.

He can only work in mo if and if that absolutely his day

Smart decision from Shreyas Iyer to take a break from Test cricket. If your body is not supporting you, better to leave out test cricket as it is not everyone’s cup of tea.

He is a good ODI player and should focus on IPL where he is rated highly for his captaincy.

Also, 2 mins silence for all those memes that float around after the IPL which were pretending that how the new coach selector are unbiased against Shreyas and 1-2 other players. Such rumours should be taken with a pinch of salt.

I agree.  At the very least  his timing on this sucks; what’s clear to me is he should never play Tests for India.

ODIs sure, he has a contribution to make so he should be in the mix.
