Abhishek should just focus on T20s until the T20 WC. His 50-over performance hasn't been earth shattering anyway.

 

Others like Sudharsan are in the same mould as Ruturaj. Prabhsimran might be worth looking at some point if he elevates his game one more level.

 

Honestly, we don't need any backup openers until 2027 WC. Rohit and Gill will open, Jaiswal is the backup.

I don't see consistency in selections.

 

Earlier this year against England, we had 5 spinners in the squad. Now we have 3.  We had 7 batters (including wks) and 9 bowling options (including AR) against Eng. Now we have 8 and 7 respectively.
