Injured Sundar is being replaced by Badhoni.

What kind of replacement is this not an upgrade on sundar, sundar himself is not that good.

Looks like they are locking Sundar for white-ball and Badhoni is just a place holder , now they are just randomly picking any player. so that they do not challenge the player they want in the team..

Vipraj could have been a good addition, parag could have been a better replacement,

They are not giving chances to player who can cement their spots.

Looking at Gill's selection in T20, Sundar's selection in ODI tells me Gambhir wants a core group he can control across the formats. Frankly he doesn't seem to like the idea of different teams for different formats. Actually Samson did absolutely nothing wrong to be sidelined permanently from ODI. That is just not him, Jaiswal, Ruturaj are all dropped for no reasons.

Samson does not offer too much in Odis, Ind already had KL keeping and sanju is not a #6/7 batter and can not bowl to come as allrounder.

They should include some finisher, ind was struggling to chase run a ball in last odi, the game should have been finished along back, Ind batting finishes at #5, this will not work.

Selecting an off-spinner in white-ball is clueless selection all other team uses batters to bowl off-spin. at #6/7/8 sunder does not have power game to finish the game on high.

Ind is looking to finish the batting with Sundar, Axar/Jadu, Rana (at 6/7/8) this is poor combination, they can rotate but not hit big.

And when their top picked/ bookmarked players are not fit they are trying to protect them by selecting low potential players like badhoni..

Badoni is inferior to Parag but not by much.  He is young too.

I am happy selectors didn't bring Hooda or Krunal back..

HaaRCeeBee fans are livid with Krunal's omission lol

Neither Jadeja nor Sundar are 20 overs players. You need genuine batsman there. I would have these guys at 8 at best.  Once Pandya is back it will somewhat remove this instability. But you still need another genuine batsman besides sundar or Jaddu.

At 6/7/8 you need batters with power game and are bit tall , and now that teams are able find data on the batter need batters who can access both off and leg-side.

Where else what Ind is doing the batter who should be at #8 or below are playing at 5/6/7/8. The batters with least power game are coming where you need batters with most power game.

Even someone like Baba Aparajith would not have been a bad option. He had a good VHT and is a decent offie.

Never seen Badoni bowl and he has had a terrible VHT

SA chased 362 after their their 3 wicket fell at 197.India were huffing and puffing  after Kohli fell at 234/3 .

Imagine a match where Kohli falls early. The match is gone  as we saw in first two matches in Australia or finals in 23.

Your batting cannot end at number 3.KL Rahul is most useless fellow, he will never score runs under pressure as we saw in first two odis in Australia, people keep pointing his avg .

Badhoni is a v.much a part-time off spinner. Ind is looking fr lower middle order batter not Aparajith wont make a cut.

Do not thnk Badhoni is intnl quality, they are just picking him so that he does not challenge Sundar's place. Rinku could have done the same role.

There are multiple better options than badhoni. Try out naman dhir, sharuk, Dube, there is no point of a specialist off-spinner in white-ball. They could have picked any top scoring mo batter samran  looks good play #4 for kntk, try-out ramakrishna, etc

That has been the problem so v.long now every1 sees it but Ind selectors, Ind batting end at 3-4 and at max kl that gives only 5 batters. And kl history is well know.

What is the point of KL keeping then if the batting end at #5 ??? Ind needs to add batter and power to score big.

A non consiquentional match vs b level NZ he made it look like a up hill task when most of the things were already done by kolhi and Iyer. Can not go with barely 5 batters in Odis and think they will chase out 330 totals day-in-day-out.

In today's cricket need batter till #8 , Ind batting barely goes till #5 and hence they have to send out jadu/axar to play in between just for batting line-up look bit bigger.

If Ind were 3 for 197 chasing 350+ they would have bundled out 280 and would have been out of chase by 220 on the board and would have been just playing to play out 50 overs.

Have mentioned that 290 is avg. total in SA for last 3-4 yrs does Ind team have batting line-up to score and chase 330+ ???

Ind Odi side looks like a test side where there are 5 batters and 5 bowlers. where else test side looks like odi/t20 side where all of them are bits and pieces.

India has not won any knockout match where Kohli or Rohit have not scored runs since 2013.If both failed it is a loss. The pressure they have taken to carry this team is ridiculous.Looks like it is going to be the same in 2027 also which is sad.

Not in favour of getting 35-36 + yo players in for WCs, these thing does not work ou.

But on merit and current performance both makes to Ind playing 11 ,but as they are aging Ind should have strengthened the batting who would bat around them but they have not.

Too much pressure on them, the only batter who can handle bit of pressure is iyer but he has obvious issue with sort-ball and wc is in SA. the issue here is Ind does not even have back-up for any 1.

Apart from Jaiswal as opening back-up Ind does not have a single back-up from #1 to 5. What is the point of keeping reddy away from domestic let him play if he is nt featuring in 11, they should only select 13 players for such meaningless series and add 2 player as back-up from local domestic side. like if match is in Del add 2 players frm del who can do the fielding if needed and run the trainings/nets..

By playing Sundar in all formats and conditions, TM is doing him harm. Let him play more FC and concentrate on red ball. His T20 WC selection is also a blunder.

Ashwin in the famous Kimber/Himanish collab video said that Sundar must send down a lot more overs in domestic, he is behind by a couple of thousand deliveries at least for his age, they compared him with Harmer (1000+ FC wickets) and how quick the South African was to find the ideal line/length/pace in the pitches of that series.

Why is Sundar not bowling for TN? They have a match in Barabati next week. His bowling in the RSA Guwahati test was unacceptable for me. Used to rate him highly before that but clearly has a long long way to go.

Sundar has v.little cricket under his belt for a player who has been in the system for a v.long time. He needs to improve both bowling a batting.

If Ashwin is not cut-out for t20is then sundar is not even close. Ashwin had a ball that can leave the rh batter which is v.imp.

Use to think Sundar is safe fielder not fast but safe but in last few games it looks like he is not even safe.  And for batting he lack power game to be playing white-ball specially #6/7/8. Jadu was better package but he is not cut out how can sundar be??

Rinku can bowl off spin too he should get the role instead of Badoni

We also need to prioritize fielding in such equal candidates so that we have atleast 3-4 reliable fielders
