jalebi_bhai Posted December 10, 2025 Posted December 10, 2025 “I think in a one-day format, you should know the template that you want to play with. I've always believed that in white-ball cricket, batting orders are very overrated, except for the opening combination. In Test cricket, obviously, you've got to have a fixed batting order, but it (batting order) is very, very overrated (in white-ball formats),” said Gambhir in the post-match press conference. Batting Orders are Over-rated in White-ball Cricket
jalebi_bhai Posted December 10, 2025 Author Posted December 10, 2025 No wonder this buffoon wants RoKo gone from ODIs also. As long as the stalwarts are there, this guy won't be allowed to do his musical chairs in ODIs. putrevus 1
tapandrun Posted December 10, 2025 Posted December 10, 2025 It may sound off, but in t20s it makes more sense to have a controlled entry point than having fixed batting order. And once the game will be driven by softwares and backend planning we will start viewing that. The problem is Ind players do not play other leagues so they do not have much exp. at playing non-favourable slots so it becomes hard for them. But look at other team's players they are comfortable batting at diff slots. Lord 1

Bcci can do it say we will take care of it logestics and contracts. they do not need to pay full contract but only a part of it. We see players from other team come to Ind and train in Ind why can not Ind player do it on their own accord, bcci can help. May be their IPL franchise can help with it. Gollum Posted December 10, 2025 Posted December 10, 2025 Even in tests he bats Sundar at #8 in one game, then #3, back to #5 and #6. Lord and cricspirit 1 1

For ex. if your number 4 comes in to bat in the PP, he must know what his role is. On the other hand if he walks in the 10th over, he must know what to do in that situation. Role definition is more important than flexibility in any format. BacktoCricaddict 1

sage Posted December 10, 2025 Posted December 10, 2025 He’s correct for t20s tbh The person who comes in at say 10/2 in the 2nd over shouldn’t necessarily be the one that comes in at 100/2 in the 11th over BacktoCricaddict 1

Sometimes What Gambir does defies logic. Usage of Samson is a case in point. He did the same in Tests as well. Pandya is the only one who can bat anywhere without much drop in performance.

Test sides are easiest to chose, not much tactics are needed, Ind is completely messing up test selection its been same and it will remain same :: 6 top batters and 4 best bowlers and 1/2 allrounder if available. The was no planned controlled entry points In Odis , it was done only when an unexpected situation say there is a v.big partnership and then many wkts are in the hand then some1 with better sr was promoted thats it. Already mentioned because Ind batters are not playing many leagues and in IPL they play in favourable batting positions and team is build/set-up around them hence they do not have game to float around. And mostly all the Ind stars batting style in IPL have been same :: aim for personal milestone and only go after bowling once that is done and hitting part was mostly left to os batters. Only in last 2-3 Ind batter are taking the hitting duties and that too are mostly newer players. putrevus 1

T20 is about scoring at high sr that is the bottom-line , yes few situation demands or offers a chance to play bit slow and take less risks or sometimes when team has wkts they can take more risks when they have wkts in the hand-- This has not changed in t20s. Every Intnl batter would know what to do when team is 25/2 in 4-5 overs and what to do if team is 55/2 in 4-5 overs. But there might be a situation where a batter can take advantage of the situation better than other batters , if a team has a good legspinner then batting side can atleast try to have 1 LH batter. There can be many situations and having controlled entry points can mess up bowling teams plan
Lord Posted December 10, 2025 Posted December 10, 2025 No problem in what he said but he did the opposite in Tests Suhaan 1

Middle order phase is a crucial phase. If you look at India's best strike rate in the middle overs since 2024 it is mostly one of the top order batsman Since 2024 Best middle over strike rate Abhishek sharma 192.26 Nitish Reddy 190.69 Samson 177.29 Rohit 170.00 Gaikwad 165.00 Jaiswal 158.49 Tilak varma 147.15 Pant 144.08 Jitesh Sharma 141.93 Shivam Dube 137.45 Rinku singh 133.63 Avesh Khan 133. 33 Pandya 130.31 Sabnam Gill 125.75 Edited December 11, 2025 by vvvslaxman
vvvslaxman Posted December 11, 2025 Posted December 11, 2025 Best death over strike rate since 2024 (10 bals or more) Rohit sharma 305.88 INSANE !!! Gaikwad 255.00 Paragh 228.57 Tilak varma 212.00 Kohli 200.00 SKY 187.50 Dube 183.33 Rinku 183.33 Jadeja 170.00 Pandya 169.47 Samson 162.50 Axar 143.33 30 balls 43 runs just 2 sixes If you look at this you can see Axar struggling big time trying to accelerate against pace. He cannot come after 16th over.
vvvslaxman Posted December 11, 2025 Posted December 11, 2025 Gill hits a few fours upfront still the strike rate doesn't go over 150 in power play. It is 144. Then he gets out.
