That ship has sailed as Fiz has issued a statemen.t I don't think BD players will play for IPL anymore.   May be only Hindu Bangladeshi players.

Pakistani also did similar statement after 2009 since then crying everyday and asking icc, imf everyone why bcci is not inviting them.

No matter what spin people give, BD players have refused to play BPL games and domestic for money. You think anyone will pass a lucrative ipl contract ?

I am saying IPL will not invite them anymore.

I am not saying Bangladeshis will reject. BCCI won't include them anymore.

ICC gives BCB January 21 ultimatum; Scotland set to replace Bangladesh in T20 World Cup

The standoff between the ICC and the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has finally reached a point of no return. After nearly three weeks of back-and-forth, the global body has given the BCB a hard deadline of January 21 to confirm whether Bangladesh will travel to India for the T20 World Cup 2026. If Dhaka sticks to its refusal, the ICC is ready to replace them with Scotland, the next highest-ranked team.

Saturday's meeting in Dhaka, the second in a week, produced no softening of positions. The BCB once again told ICC officials that Bangladesh want to play the tournament but only in Sri Lanka, citing security concerns and political sensitivities at home. The ICC, however, reiterated that the schedule announced months ago will not be altered and that there is no specific threat to any visiting team in India.

With the tournament opener just three weeks away, patience inside the ICC corridors has clearly run out, as per ESPNcricinfo. Bangladesh are scheduled to play the West Indies in Kolkata on February 7, followed by two more games at Eden Gardens and a final group fixture in Mumbai. Logistically and commercially, the ICC sees no room for a late reshuffle, especially when there's no security threat issue in India.

ICC rejects all proposals by Bangladesh

One of the BCB's last proposals, swapping groups with Ireland so Bangladesh could play all matches in Sri Lanka, has also been dismissed. Cricket Ireland confirmed it had received 'definitive assurances' that its fixtures will remain unchanged. The ICC views any group reshuffle as a major headache with broadcasters, ticketing partners and other participating nations.

An independent security assessment shared with all 20 teams has classified India's overall threat level as medium to high, similar to previous global events, but no direct risk to Bangladesh has been identified. The ICC has conveyed this repeatedly, yet the BCB has held its line, backed by the Bangladesh government. In all likelihood, unless Bangladesh reverses course in the next 72 hours, the tournament will move on without them.

Pakistan has indicated that it may reconsider its participation in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 if the ongoing concerns surrounding Bangladesh’s security issues remain unresolved, adding fresh uncertainty to the build-up of the global event scheduled in India and Sri Lanka next month.

According to a report by Pakistan-based media outlet Geo News, government sources in Islamabad confirmed that Pakistan is closely monitoring developments involving the Bangladesh cricket team, which has raised serious reservations about travelling to India due to security concerns. The Bangladesh government has reportedly sought Pakistan’s support on the issue, urging a collective stance to ensure the safety of players, officials and fans.

Geo News quoted insiders as saying that Pakistan believes no country should be subjected to pressure or threats in matters of hosting international sporting events. Pakistan has assured Bangladesh of its full support and emphasised that unresolved concerns could impact not only Bangladesh’s participation but also the broader preparations for the tournament.

Earlier this month, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) publicly expressed its willingness to host Bangladesh’s T20 World Cup matches if alternative venues, particularly in Sri Lanka, are not made available.

PCB officials told Geo News that Pakistan has formally communicated this offer to the International Cricket Council (ICC), highlighting its readiness and recent experience in successfully hosting major ICC events, including the Champions Trophy 2025 and the ICC Women’s Qualifier.

Meanwhile, the ICC has held meetings with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) in Dhaka to discuss possible solutions, including a potential group swap. However, the proposal has reportedly gained little traction. Cricket Ireland has already dismissed speculation of any group-stage changes, confirming that its matches will remain in Sri Lanka as originally scheduled.

Under the current fixture list, Bangladesh are set to play group matches in Kolkata and Mumbai. With Pakistan now signalling that it may also review its participation if Bangladesh’s concerns are ignored, pressure is mounting on the ICC to find an acceptable resolution ahead of the tournament, which runs from 7 February to 8 March.

If true, It will be great news for Indian Cricket fans and Cricket in general. ICC can swap Pakistan with Bangladesh. Requirement of Bangaldeshis will be met.

Lol… use this drama to ban Pakistan from international cricket. The had no legitimate cause to boycott as their concerns wrt not playing in India was fulfilled. Make them pay, ban them for international cricket.

In school/college you had those notorious kids who would come up with some destructive idea, never execute themselves  but pump some other kid to execute and that kid usually would be caught by teachers and pay some price. Pak BD, ICC and T20 world cup.
