ravishingravi Posted January 24 Posted January 24 (edited) Again hearing decent things about the film. If it is 10% as good as Border, I will consider going. Wonder if anyone is seeing it. Edited January 25 by ravishingravi
zen Posted January 24 Posted January 24 (edited) Planning to skip it unless it has highly favorable reviews. My friends invited me on Friday but I declined citing that patriotic films with loud shouting, monotonous action sequences, more or less average cgi, typical dialogues, etc., have reached a saturation point at least for me. The films I may check out such as Wuthering Heights and O Romeo are scheduled to come out in mid Feb. Edited January 24 by zen
Texy Posted January 24 Posted January 24 (edited) from the trailer the actresses look so stiff like mannequin... Ahan Shetty cant act just like dad Edited January 24 by Texy
kepler37b Posted January 24 Posted January 24 I am hearing that is that typical standard Over the Top Sunny paaji film.
singhvivek141 Posted January 24 Posted January 24 (edited) Going to watch it tomorrow. I dont have high hopes, just expecting it shouldn't throw the bhaichara element on my face. Few folks whom I follow have mentioned its just a cash grab project to ride on the public emotion and legacy of Border. Edited January 24 by singhvivek141

jf1gp_1 Posted January 24 Posted January 24 Watched it today. It wasn't what I was expecting actually trailer doesn't give away much. Ending could have been shorter, few plot holes but overall it's definitely one time watch.

Lone Wolf Posted January 25 Posted January 25 (edited) Not watching this crap.. 71 was a total one sided arse whooping of P@rkies and ain't gonna give a damn about cinematic liberties showing it as some close call or what. This is another Gadar 2 trying to milk emotions from its predecessor. No thanks Edited January 25 by Lone Wolf ravishingravi 1

Usually, these films are about “dushman” tanks flying and exploding with the protagonist shouting slogans loudly to make your head spin. Then in the name of backstory, you have soldiers family angle thrown in - someone thinking about his beloved, someone recalling his wife and kids, someone talking about the responsibility of getting his sister married, someone missing his mom’s food, …, … These reduce the genre to parody level. I can probably write a typical patriotic film screenplay in a day or so. PS Among the recent ones, Ground Zero (2025) was “relatively” a more grounded “patriotic” film. Why don't we make movies on 65 war or something?? That was the actual close call to an extent. Battle of Khem Karan (India armed infantry destroying Pakistani tanks in hundreds) Battle of Chawinda on the outskirts of Sialkot (stubborn Pakistani resistance, that stopped/slowed Indian advance into Pakjab) Both are legit legendary battles post WW2. Bollywood has zero concept of making decent war movies. 71 war should be all about Dhaka offensive, human rights violations of Tikka and Yahya, subsequent advance of Indian armed forces into Dhaka, Pak army blowing bridges to slow down Indian armed infantry, massacre of Bengali intellectuals in Bangladesh before the defeat of Pakistan. Bhutto and co actions in United Nations. There is so much to add and do.

Do watch Ghazi Attack.. it was a good standalone Submarine warfare movie about a US made advanced PNS Ghazi Submarine mission to destroy Vishakapatnam in 71 war. Surprisingly came from Dharma productions Edited January 25 by Lone Wolf zen 1

Surprisingly came from Dharma productions Will give it a shot. Usually, I only watch new Hindi films in cinemas for good timepass. And if I miss a film, it usually remains missed. I only re-started actively watching, relatively speaking, new Indian movies in 2024. I do watch the classics at home. Edited January 25 by zen Lone Wolf 1
putrevus Posted January 25 Posted January 25 Bollywood keeps milking two things national pride and Pakistan.People keep falling for it.

Surprisingly came from Dharma productions The most definitive film about submarine warfare was the German film "Das Boot". Keeps you on the edge the whole movie. After that I got obsessed with similar submarine films and watched The hunt for red October, Crimson Tide, U-571 and few other movies but nothing gave me the same experience. Yet to watch Ghazi attack.
singhvivek141 Posted January 25 Posted January 25 Saw the movie today. Some parts were definitely good... 1. Varun D and Sunny Deol seems to have taken the Amrit aushadhi, no matter whats fired at them...they keep on coming back. 2. Varun D hasnt acted as bad as I assumed. He was watchable, Ahan Shetty was given limited role and that suited to his expressionless face. Diljit was the best of the three but he too has less screen time. 3. Sunny Deol, sorry to say but he looked out of sorts here. Not sure if thats due to his age or something else. 4. The character arc of Santnam and Nishan Singh and their conversation was a highlight of the movie. Not sure who were the characters but their 5 min conversation showed the character depth and their acting prowess. I wont be surprised if they both get meatier roles (if not already) in their next projects. Few scenes were little weird 1. Pakistan keep on coming up with tanks, soldiers and Indian soldiers are always caught short of arms and ammunitions. 2. Indian forces have little to no idea about the plans from Pakistan to open a Western Front. Its strange that Indian Army with capability twice of Pakistan didnt had enough reserves to focus on two fronts. 3. Subtle secularism, while not over the top but definitely noticeable. ravishingravi and G_B_ 1 1
