Popular Post coffee_rules Posted February 5 Popular Post Posted February 5 How much ever we Indian fans abuse Pakistan and Bangladesh cricket boards of their Aukat , they have come out better than BCCI after the operation Sindoor lfiasco last year. All fans were asking for india to not play in the Asia cup four months after Pahalgam. Indian government didn’t have the guts to tell BCCI to drop out of Asia cup now, both Bangladesh and Pakistan have stood behind their stance. A big F. There can be 6 teams -- 1 top team from each continent including the host +1 from qualifiers (this is not confirm yet) So it will be like sa, ind, aus, eng, us +1 from qualification A warning is not negotiation. I see no reason why ICC will listen to any demands.

So many big stadiums and cricket centres in India, our cricket-crazy fans deserve first right to watch those tournament games in their cities.

Nasser Hussain is as always giving chumma They have their own franchise cricket and generate their own revenue; they should pump that money back into their own systems no one is stopping them. They need to stop acting like beggars, pleading for bilateral series. They seem to forget that the other team in this so called 'rivalry' is India. In fact, India could even ask the ICC to remove Pakistan from their group moving forward, ensuring there is no guaranteed match between the two sides. raki05 and mishra 1 1
Gollum Posted February 5 Author Posted February 5 Hope Pak follows through with their decision. All eyes on Jay Shah after that. If he doesn't manage to finish Pak cricket for good, he really will be the most useless guy on the planet. Someone like Srini mama would have been ideal, but let us see what Amit Shah's son does, he has the entire GOI machinery behind his back in case he needs more firepower to burn PCB to crisp.

Not saying that negotiation are surely going on, but if its going on then there are only 2 ways for pcb to play Ind are: bd gov comes-up and say that they want pak team to play 2nd is pak gov taking its decision back saying participation in another world event (olmpc.) are on the card. Do not think pcb can override pak gov decision Edited February 5 by tapandrun New guy 1

On a wider issue I don't think the ICC functions as a one man show unlike many governments these days. Plus even as an administrator Jay Shah is a wheeler and dealer not an enforcer. If the view Hussain is expressing is widely shared in the cricketing world, there is nothing to stop a firm anti India stand being expressed via the ICC. lemsip Posted February 5 Posted February 5 I think Pakistan is also misreading its cards and vastly overestimating the commercial attractiveness of India-Pak fixtures. Apparently their demands now include resintating Bangladesh, playing India-Pak in the WTC etc etc. The ICC is basically ineffectual but this is the right time for India to just snap ties and move on. Lack of India-Pak games doesn't really affect India long term. mishra 1

The fact that it isn't just tells you the faux moral outrage is silly, Exactly , this is the classic false equivalence that apologetics typically bring up not just in cricket but in terrorism and everything else. The fact remains that India has disagreed to play in Pakistan but at the same time demonstrated the courtesy to play Pakistan in a neutral ground based on their commitment to ICC. Pakistan asked for a similar favour in return which was extended to them in this WC but now it is them who are shifting the goalposts and trying to blackmail ICC to get one over BCCI. I say ignore them. If there is any financial loss, let's bear that for once but then cut the snake's head permanently. lemsip and bowl_out 2

goose Posted February 5 Posted February 5 the indian govt ripping up the mustafiz IPL contract was a poor move surely on the eve of their own WC. what did it achieve? bangladeshi's aren't welcome is a reasonable inference.

Yes I agree. It was a silly and impulsively emotional move to interfere in a contract with a private league. Yet another example of the widespread lack of skill in wielding power competently. It was an unnecessary panga by BCCI for no reason. These decisions should have been taken at a government level - GOI could have stopped issuance of visas to Bangladesh citizens for example. Then the whole issue would have become moot. Having said that, the issue with Pakistan has to be dealt with firmly once and for all. If they keep focusing on the commercials and the imagined worth of Indo-Pak fixtures they will keep fudging out some compromise which is the BCCI's default setting. Again the easier way is for the GOI to simply snap all sporting ties with Pakistan and simply move on as many countries have done with Russia etc - India can easily cope. I doubt they will though unfortunately.
