Except for comedy - there is not a single genre or range that he has not aced.

His personality is not made for comedy.  But neither was Rajesh Khanna.

His upcoming films will most likely dissapoint because he has set the bar so high with Dhurandhar 1 and 2

The only actor whose select movies I personally like more ( over the last 15 years or so ) ...is Ajay Devgn  ( when he does Drishyam or Raid kind of roles )

Isnt it surprising how nobody from the YRF camp or the Khans  or even AB have not complimented his performance or the film. Shows how much the industry is irked by the outrageous success of an "outsider" like  Aditya Dhar.

Probably didn't want to get involved in the politics.

I'd say talent and range wise I'd keep peak Hrithik over him.

Guzaarish, Lakshya, Kaabil (wow) even the Agneepath, KMG, Super 30 showcased his range. We all know about his glamourous action roles.  He has been severely underutilized as well.

Ranveer has a nice filmography as well and he has really peaked in D2.

Bajirao could have been his best had Bhansali focused on his campaigns and not love angle.

Among the newer crop him and Kaushal are most talented.

In 83  he portrayed Kapil Dev with a superlative performance.  Padmaavat  - he was extraordinary as a villian. Then Gullyboy, Gunday....etc

Vicky Kaushal is excellent in one kind of genre. In terms of versatility - Ranveer is a supreme talent.

Ranbir Kapoor was good - but his choice of films offlate  has been ****.

Ranveer the reel is often overshawed or undermined by Ranveer the real.

While his acting prowess is amazing, there is no denying of the fact that his real life persona makes it extremely hard for anyone to take him seriously.

True. He is a monstrous talent --- can you imagine Akshay Kumar or the 3 Khans playing these kind of roles.  He seems to be in a league of his own in terms of sheer talent.

:two_thumbs_up: Bajirao movie was great, underrated... could have been one of the ATGs if not for the love angle..

Bhansali will rot in hell for what he did...  Minus love angle bits that movie had potential of all timer

Ranveer Raza Murad face off  as Bajirao and Nizaam was a thing of art, Peak dialogue, cinematography and obviously the skill on display by both.

We were robbed really

His performance in Padmaavat is for ages. I completely agree. An actor of a generation for me. But he has no self-control on his narcissism. he will self-extinguish. And that is the sad part.

But I will risk my head and say that Ranbir Kapoor will end up as a bigger star. He is stable, willing to connect to different parts of the country and is an above average actor. Looking forward to Ramaayan.

I might be wrong, but Ranbir Kapoor doesnt seem to have that hunger to go ahead.

He started very well with variety in roles, but later stuck to low quality movies like Besharam. Got stuck to a level and never moved above that.

Dude is blue blood royalty of bollywood. Of course the ambitions will be less. But I loved his performance in Animal. He has in him to become the superstar.

When Amitabh's movie was released in Bombay, he could get all of Bombay movie fans to watch his movie in various theatres. Such was his acting and ability to put bums on the seats. Dharmendra, Jeetendra, Shatrughan Sinha,  Vinod Khanna, Mithun,  Rishi Kapoor needed their movie to be liked by people and word of mouth to spread that the perfromance or movie is good. Watching movies in various theatres in Bombay was a typical different feel with the crowd getting so much involved during those times. The loud cheer for Amitabh on his entry itself was a spectacle to experience.

Then once Shahrukh established himself, he too like Amitabh had a fan base who would watch all his movies. Govinda did not manage to get such  hold in Bollywood although a lot of his movies were excellent. Later Salman , Aamir and Ajay Devgan, Akshay Kumar after a long time in Bollywood also managed to develop a significant fan base. Sunny Deol needed performances like  Ghayal and Damini to get people rushing to the theatres. Watched Damini in theatre and it was later made tax-free.

Watching movies in 80's and 90's was altogether different. Some funny incidents too. In one of the movie, someone from the back seat got so excited that he  twirled the innerwear of his girlfriend on finger and threw it forward. Liqour bottles used to be found if we used to go and watch the morning 9:15 a.m. show. Now you cannot even take a water bottle in the multiplexes of Bombay.

There is also a massive  shift from single screen theatres to multiplexes setup etc have changed. The crowd has improved (many still stick to old typed theatres as they cannot afford multiplexes). I miss the Imax Adlabs dome theatre though which was revamped; apart from that I would say all changes affecting watching experience have improved.

Amitabh, SRK, Salman, Akshay, Amir are the real crowd pullers. They do not need word of mouth that the movie is good, fans would watch their movies anyway. Ajooba and Khud Gawah which were released in short time one after another iirc, but many had watched it anyways. Ranveer Singh just liek Ranbir Kappor, Varun Dhawan, Ayushman K, Vicky Kaushal still depends on word of mouth to draw crowd. It's not like people rush for first-day, first-show yet. He might get there but he is far away from that kind of aura the few other actors  had in Bombay. Having said that it was great to watch Amitabh, Shahrukh, Salman, Akshay, Aamir and Ajay Devgan but Bombay needs a new crowd puller now. Ranveer strength is his energy you see in his performances which is simply better than some of the big names. He can be the next big crowd puller. Some things change for the better and hope there will be another major change in Bollywood. Not talking about the change - the  rumour of Bollywood being moved to UP and Gujarat.  Have watched Salman few times at Titan store near Pali Hill, Sachin Tendulkar outside his bungalow near Perry Cross road turning.  The famous cop Rakesh Maria also lives near the Perry cross road. Imagine Amitabh, SRK, Salman, Akshay living in UP after all the decades they have spent in Bombay having to shift.  I just cant imagine that. Bollywood out of Bombay..oh hang on. That's not happening, that's not where actors and actresses want to live, nor do the producers, directors, song crew, side actors, support staff etc. No other city can give vibes which the hindi films environment  and people asociated with it want to experience.  That was one funny news doing the rounds many years back.

Good luck to Ranveer Singh.  He does many films compared to Ranbir Kapoor, Varun Dhawan, Vicky Kaushal and others nowadays. So he has ample opportunity to show that even if the script in one or two of his many movies is not good, he can still carry it well and make movie successful as a lead actor.

Funnily enough, I always associate him with comedy due to that wedding planner movie he did with Anushka - naam nahin yaad aa rahaa hai. He just had a comic face on the entire movie.

They are character artistes and good in specific niches because of theatre background. Cannot be leads in a variety of roles.

Last night, I was going back and forth on Netflix (or was it Prime?) and stopped at Befikre. Because of this thread, Ranveer was on my mind, so I turned it on.

60 min I will not get back. What is astonishing is that I made it that far.
