Harsha Bhogle's commentary is unbearable

Listening to him commentate is like listening to nails on a chalk board.

 

His "over-the-top" excitement seems performative than anything authentic.

I used to like his commentary back in the 90s. But totally stale now.

Har cheez ka expiry date hota hai. Indian commentary needs a complete revamp.

 

I much prefer Pujara, Ashwin, Rahane (outside IPL), Varun Aaron, Umesh types to take it from here. Pair them with the likes of Gaurav Kapoor and Jatin Sapru. Baaki sab ko nikalo baahar, slightly old timers chahiye toh limit to Kumble, Zaheer, Irfan etc. who don't indulge in chwtyapa.

All other commentators in the current panel are better than him. Once Sanjay Manjrekar left, Harsha Bhogle grabbed his spot.

He keeps talking about how hot it is out there fielding first. He treats 20 overs of sun near evening time as most hardest thing. 

 

Some one should tell him Indian players fielded 50 overs in sun including peak time. This 3:30 pm fielding is not peak sun time and the fielding is just for 30 overs. Guys like Sachin, Sehwag and many others have fielded 50 overs in places like Sharjah and smashed 50's coming in to bat later.

 

His benchmarks are very low.

I'd like to see Indian commentators who are knowledgeable about fast bowling and genuinely interested and excited by young Indian fast bowling prospects. Added to that Id like the broadcasting to improve and treat bowling speeds as a regular facet of the game and include it as a package in both domestic and international cricket. With the kind of resources we have this should be a given

Considering that he is not a cricketer himself, I kinda get the starry-eyed fan-boy perspective. What I don't understand is where he got his SA accent. It's a bit jarring.

What I hate about Harsha is when he talks about his cricket "career" bowling leg spin for Osmania University against other Hyderabad universities. Just stop. No one cares.

The man has no knowledge on nitty gritties of cricket. To cover that up he talks about frivolous issues.

I can live with it except when he starts using choice words and phrases for under aged kids like Vaibhav and Mathre. It sounds shotty AF.
