South Indian food is so bad except for idli and dosa. And bisele bath is criminal. Y'all should be arrested for that and whatever travesty you do with the sweets is bad.

Which cuisine is best?

I thought you liked uttapam.

Favourite is difficult to decide.

Worst of the lot is Kolkata biriyani where in a boiled bateta is hidden in between the rice. And too much mustard flavouring on the meat.

@Trichromatic will testify to this abomination.

Kolkata biryani looks like majboori ka khana from all aspects.

Not much of a drinker, I’m afraid :((

Also as a rule of thumb I *hate* places that have loud music playing in the background, especially when catching up with people.

Are these places you say in the Kormangla area?

Your SiL is right. Bangalore if a village vis a vis Mumbai :dontknow:

Breweries are spread out in Bangalore, usually they are not loud .

7rivers by taj is really good but small , most hyped up brewery is windmills craftworks which I didn’t like

Koramangala has lot of clubs , but they are for younger crowd

@velu   - Why do you underestimate Bengaluru.  Mumbai doesn’t have anything that comes even remotely close to the Bier Library experience Bengaluru offers.

nothing beats blore beer

bier library used to be my favorite  brewery , great beer and good food ..

it’s too crowded and because of some other issues I stopped going there ( from 2018/19 to 2024 , I use to visit stoat once a week )

not a big fan of toit and my biggest disappointment is windmills ( pretend to be too classy and their food is not beer friendly )

now  my go to place is Uru or 7rivers ..

like iron hill as well , but OMR traffic sucks even on weekdays ..

tried most of the breweries though

Which food is spicy there? I doubt it's anywhere close to Andhra food.

Everything is spicy and it's real spice not just powder spicy.

While I was on a 3 day event in Blore, that was the only brewery I've visited  - it was recommended by someone local and did not feel like going anywhere else after the first visit.

Unbelievable vibes, very nice crowd and the food was always on point. We pretty much went there all the 3 evenings.

Would you recommend another place for next time for food. I pretty much drink one or the other single malt, so drinks really don't matter.

Surati and Kathiawadi food does have some heat and plenty of garlic, but it’s nowhere close to the spice levels of Andhra cuisine. Even in the spicier Kathiawadi or Surati dishes, the green chilies used for tempering in farsan are largely mellowed out after frying. Andhra /Guntur chillies are brutal.

frankly my favorite brewary is bier library only , but stopped visiting because of other reasons ( one guy was friendly with us and turned out to be a drug supplier .. he freely gave us ketamine in a 2000rs note as cocaine to us ..  completely avoiding the place )

7rivers is really good again but menu in comparatively limited for a brewery ( but we can order from other taj restaurants ) .. again drinks other than beer are typical 5 star hotel rates

you cant beat 7river food anyway .. i start with boiled peanut chat  here :p:

i prefer the brewary which has boiled peanuts

merak brewhouse was inside jw marriot campus , sadly they closed it ..

if you are classy enough visit windmills , but beer is on the super hoppy side and their food doesnt go well with beer

some good ones ..

uru - open air ambience , good beer and good food ( my current go to place )

big brewski - good beer and good food

arbor - young crowd .. good beer and average food .. good location

blr brewing company - kanakapura brewary is really good ( like we are inside forest ) , their hsr one has basic ambience , never visited whitefiled

bier club - first brewary .. beer is on the lowest bitter side , but average food ( great location though .. lavelle road )

biergarten - 4/5 branches .. again beer is good but average food

xoox - deserted brewary in koramngla , but good food and beer .. go there beacuse its near to us

brewmeister - had hookah as well , but only beer now ( very small place )

pump house - good beer and food

ironhill - good beer and spicy food

46 ounces - good food and beer , but far off for me

oia - great ambience .. vivisted twice , average .. but now its getting good reviews ( probably they improved a lot )

toit - overrated

lonboat - visted once , was average

shakesbeare and bosch - good beer but bad food

red rhino - meh

stories - meh

other than that visited few breweries only once so far to check ..

the palms

brahma brews

one surprising thing about some lesser known cuisines ..

north Karnataka food is spicy @coffee_rules

marathi military hotel food is as spicy as typical Andhra food

oriya cuisine is more or less same as Bengali cuisine

lucknow food is flavorful

litti chokka is really yummy @Trichromatic

gutti-vankaya-curry-gutti-vankaya-koora.

Gutti vankaaya curry is a under rated telugu delicacy. The definite king of curries.

Thankfully not yet noticed by punjabis. If they do, they will add butter and ruin it.

One of my favorite dishes!!

YeNgai badnekaayi in Karnataka and Bharleli Vaanga in Maharashtra are very similar to Guthvankai. The idea and the base are the same, but the spice combinations are different.

Did a gujju say that south indian food is bad ?

Figures, he must be having the rock cakes that pass for idly over there and the cheese Schezwan pav bhaji dosa that the gujju vendors give.
