Any test which Root plays should have this kind of pitch. Am I right?

Goes to show that cricket continues to be a Whiteman's game.   Entire test lasted barely 166 overs, yet no accusations on pitch tampering by Eng curators nor any discussion on SM regarding the pitch getting de-merit point.   Had it happened in India, the cricketing world would hv exploded by now, with Pak & BD trolls leading the charge.

Had it been India, outrage would have started after first 2 balls of the test. Perhaps even before the series, like Aussies (through that moron Bharat Sunderesan) did with their hitjobs during BGT 2023. Apparently they saw the pitch while their plane was landing and passed the verdict that it was tampered to target their LHBs. Axar and Jaddu went on to score a lot in that test and we won by an innings and 150.

Sundersan was same A hole whom safraz told dressing room under gg was not good place. This moran leaked it on newspaper and gg kicked out sarfu

Ben Stokes' future as England Test captain is in doubt after it was announced that he and Gus Atkinson are being investigated by the ECB for an undisclosed "incident" which took place at a nightclub in the early hours of Monday morning.

 

The incident, described by the ECB as "a breach of team protocols", followed England's 115-run win over New Zealand in the first Test at Lord's. ESPNcricinfo understands that it is serious enough for Stokes to be considering his position as captain.

Lord's pitch rated unsatisfactory, despite match getting over in 165 overs. 40 wickets, a wicket ever 4 overs !!!! Even Cape Town 24 was unsatisfactory, that test lasted 100 overs, just over a day. 

 

Indore 23, Pune 17, Nagpur 15, Kanpur 08, Mumbai 04, were rated poor. Could be more. 

 

The pink ball test vs Lanka in 22 was below average, despite 50-50 split between pace and spin in wickets column. Srinath was match ref there. India scored 600 runs in that test, Iyer 90+70, Karunaratne 4th innings century. Bumrah's match figures were 8/47, Ashwin 6/85.

One of the better wickets in India.

 

Gold standard is Dharamsala 2017. That was the best home series during Kohli's reign. That and BGT 20-21 were peak series. Similar series story as well. First match heavy defeat. Second match comeback (Bangalore was tougher than Melbourne though). Third match bat out last day for draw by a team. Fourth match even first innings (Gabba was tougher than Dharamsala as Australia completely collapsed in Dharamsala 3rd innings).

2013-20 pitches in India were some of the best I have seen till date in test cricket, perhaps 90s and 2000s Aussie pitches were equally good. No other country provided pitches with such balance, runs on offer, pacers and spinners both in the game, and result oriented. Shami, Umesh had better numbers than Ashwin, Jadeja in that period, Kohli, Pujara averaged 60+ at home. Watching home tests was such a treat those days. We were brave enough to offer a greentop to Kiwis in 2016 Kolkata (against peak Southee, Boult, Wagner), and an Aussie style pitch for Aussies in 2017 Dharamsala. Draws were either due to weather/pollution reasons (like Lanka 2017) or some clutch rearguard effort like us in Rajkot 2016 against Poms, or Aussies in 2017 Ranchi. No free lunches, one had to earn everything including draws. 

 

But we went to extremes from 2021 Eng series (like most other teams tbh, including Australia...look at the change in nature of MCG from 2016 to today) because of WTC points system which favored 1 win, 1 loss much more than 2 draws. I thought we course corrected in 2024 series against Bazballers, those pitches reminded me of peak 2010s and the cricket was wonderful. But GG again went the other way, even overriding the seniors in NZ series, all our seniors wanted normal pitches in 2nd and 3rd test of that series.

 

If there is no pressure on our curators, they will deliver the best test pitches in world cricket. They are world class when there is no interference or sword hanging over their necks.

Leeds and Birmingham will be absolute roads like always.

 

Pakistan always does well at Lords for some reason.  August is although best time to bat during English summer

A dodgy track might bring their

Trundlers into play. I repeat their test batting is not that bad.  It is serviceable and yet they love to blame their batters 

Their hyped phaaast bowling legacy keeps that delusion alive.

 

Lord's will be their best chance to sneak a win.  Leeds and Birmingham tend to favour batting units.

 

They should have won Centurion test vs SA in all likelihood but Bavuma voodoo so strong that it can't be denied
