Batting line up not deep enough!

Felt this was a problem yesterday 

 

And I'm sure it effected Iyer and Kishan approach, knowing that Tilak (who seems only suited for a end of innings cameo these days) was followed by Dube, Rana and Axar all of whom were at least one spot too high. 

 

Hamstrung without Hardik and NKR. Shedge can come in for a spinner. Bishnoi was an embarrassment anyway

Prince and Shedge should replace Bishnoi and Varun

 

Dube and Shedge should complete 5th bowler quota

 

Additional depth will give us 10 extra runs

I have been saying the same even before the first T20. 
 

Dube, Shedge and Abhishek can complete the 5th bowler quota. 
 

Shedge at #7 will give our top and middle order the license to attack the opposition bowlers harder. 
 

Just replace Bishnoi with Shedge for the next 3 T20s and we can win this series.

Prince for Bishnoi is a no brainer.

Pandya and Bumrah are the MVPs of this team in LOIs. People may make fun of Pandya but we don't have a player like him and Bumrah. There's a reason those two have been rested and rightly so. Though I wish we would've rested all of the WT20 winning players as they need a break as well and not just Bumrah and Pandya.

 

This would've been an ideal series to give a chance to our fringe players. Not much to gain by playing the regulars.

They're deviating from their 8-3 formula, i.e. 8 batting options and 3 specialist bowlers. That's what won us 3 ICC tourneys. Sundar is a misfit in the squad and someone like Krunal or Riyan Parag would've been a better option. We need to bring in Shedge in place of a specialist bowler (Bishnoi or Varun) and Harshit should bat at 9 with Shedge at 8. Anything higher and we're batting too light. In LOIs batting depth matters more than bowling options.

If they are anyway going to play darters, why are they not considering Krunal Pandya who can also provide good batting depth and has a lot of variations. Is it due to his age?

They should also start grooming Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s bowling..the kid is competitive..

 

in future Ayush Mhatre may come in and also bowl too

Axar's batting has regressed. With Axar it is not 8-3 anymore. His utilization has become insignificant now. No.4 spin bashing role was alrlight for him. But pacers can tie him down even during that phase.  With Axar it is 7-4.

Axar has contributed to 3 ICC tourneys for us and I never expected him to deliver the way he has done and time to identify the next Axar. That's why they need to get someone like Riyan Parag.

I meant Pandya in the first senence, i.e. people may make fun of Pandya. But agree, the team with Bumrah and Pandya is a different team altogetehr.

This Indian team lacks batters who can bowl. Every team has them like Markram, Phillips, Ayub, Short, etc.

If not for the impact player rule in the IPL, guys like Tilak and Abhishek would have been regularly bowling at least 1-2 overs every match and become decent batting allrounders by now.

True. Even sadder is the fact that we have not found a suitable, sure-fire future replacement for him. Shedge and Nitish Reddy are unconvincing so far.

They have to be backed. Reddy in particular can be good. Just not the same.

Apart from Arshdeep everyone needs to be able to bat here. Varun can get in if he recovers his form but thats it
