Back of the mind, darr tha NZ new ball bowling ka.

Our bowling on that pitch was poor, Bhuvi never tried for wickets, and Chahal was disgraceful. Target should never have crossed 200.

It was easily chasable. Batting got easier. .PRobably a fiery 30 odd runs woudl have unsettled them. Since then we have been aggressive against them in World cups. It is paying off.

Dhoni should have come up the order, maybe at 4. He had this unique ability to counter swing in Eng, no matter how unorthodox or ugly he looked. He did it against prime Anderson/Broad in tests.

We needed a 40(80) from Dhoni that day after being reduced to 5/3. Pandya, Pant, DK in the back end could have finished the job......former two were also inexperienced for those conditions. Disgrace how Dhoni hid behind them.

This SF, the group match against Eng, the ODI against them in 2018 bilaterals where he gave up trying to chase, 2015 SF. His legacy as ODI batsman tarnished so much due to what he did in these 4-5 matches. Impactless, statpadding nonsense.

Needed someone to take on Kiwi bowlers right at the start.

That beyond washed middle order was always jittery.  I knew it vs SL in last league game itself that Kela was gonna fail.

Another left hander in top 5 we win this game.

Missed Dhawan badly that day.  Absolute heartbreak

Carrying Dhongi based on random IPL was beyond brain-dead..

So many terrible calls we took in the lead up to that tournament...

Benching red hot Shami in a friggin ICC tournament was blunder of the century.

We threw it away literally

I thought the match going to a second day was a clear advantage for our batters and expected an easy chase but our top three flopped as usual another thing is not playing Shami and playing Chahal was a big blunder one of the biggest mistakes in the Virat captaincy era

Dhoni was done and dusted in 2015

Yea.. simple swap of DK and MSD would have worked. But INdia suddenly threw so many players with no match experience into that match. Pant, DK.  The so called "technical masterclass" guy Kela missed in all the matches where pitch assisted new ball bowlers.

3rd consecutive tournament (after 2015 wc and 2017 CT) where we couldn't recover once top 3 failed. Dhongi was pathetic between 2015-19 period and throughout 4 years, numerous articles and opinions about how to accomodate him in batting line up but no one was asking accountability from him. DK and Pandya ate just too many balls that day. DK should never have been picked in XI. 3 keepers in XI with one washed up, one TTF and one young and inexperienced who wasn't given enough ODIs before WC.

I had a bad feeling about it post the group game against Eng. Dhoni and Jadhav insulted cricket by giving up that day, and justice was served in the SF. Cowards don't deserve WC trophy, has always been the case.

NZ seamers outbowled Indian bowlers by a mile with new ball.

Dhoni was too timid in his approach, People keep blaming Shami not being there but other two bowlers in Bumrah and Bhuvi were allowed to take wickets with new ball.

Not for first and last time NZ seamers out bowling Indian seamers by a mile , they did again in ICC test finals too.

Keeping Shami out of that match was a colossal blunder. Him in place of that loser Chahal and we would have won that easily despite our useless batting.

Don't even get me started on DK, 4 wicketkeepers played that match for us.

Don’t disagree with that but even with that blunder if Dhoni was not timid India would have won easily. He was pathetic where he was not even hitting full tosses.

Dhoni has always been extremely overrated.

Useless in T20s, disinterested in test cricket, and passenger in ODI side for half his career.

I was a big fan of Dhoni of 2000s but he tortured us so much after the 2011 WC win.

Despite a crap fest from the top and middle order we were still in the game with the Dhoni-Jadeja partnership. If only Dhoni had stepped it up a bit instead of making Jadeja take all the risks....

But bottomline, we played timid cricket while chasing and were justly dispatched to the exit door.

Rayudu was the #4 guy for almost a year before this tournament, he was dropped for no reason for DK & Shankar. Maybe him at 4 here could've made a difference..

And I don't believe Dhoni did anything wrong in this game, he was holding his wicket and taking it to the end while jadeja attacked. If that Guptill freak direct hit never happens he probably wins this game.
