50 over world cup Revamp

I didn't really understand this Super 7 nonsense:
"Teams qualifying 12th to 14th will play the Super Series round. One team from the three will progress to the Group round, becoming one of 12 teams split across two groups. The top three from each group along with the next-best-ranked team across both groups will then qualify for the Super 7, from which the top four go through to the semis."

What do they mean by the next-best ranked team. Are they talking about NRR/Points/etc? Like what's the actual point of this nonsense lol

why are the making an already long world cup longer ?

ANother chance for  India Pak matches..

if Associates had any balls, they would boycott the next World ODI league or whatever it is that they need to play for 3 years to qualify for main WC, if winning that isnt a guarantee of appearing in the WC so what's the point. Associate cricket boards should pull out of the ODI format if they are going to be disrespected like this-we as indians got angry when western nations conspired to weaken our hockey team using money and influence to make sure conditions are in their favour.. and now indian broadcasters and BCCI is pulling the shots to disrespect associate nations

  • Super Series (Round 1): The three lowest-ranked qualified teams compete in a round-robin. Only the top team from this stage advances to the main group phase, eliminating the bottom two sides.
  • Group Stage (Round 2): The surviving team joins the other 11 nations to form 12 teams total. They are split into two groups of six for round-robin play (30 matches). The top three teams from each group, plus the next best-placed team across both groups, progress.
  • Super 7 (Round 3): The seven advancing teams compete in a single round-robin. The top four teams advance to the Semi-Finals, followed by the Final

Shame on FIFA actually for never fixing a Portugal vs Argentina match in World Cup despite both Messi & Ronaldo playing 6 editions.

FIFA and its corruption should not be the benchmark.

World cup is the best event to expand the game. This is a self-goal. Cricket is the second most popular sport  in the world. Instead of spreading it , restricting like this is a stupid move.

What's the point of a "super 7" anyway, just have top 2 teams from each group play the semis

IMO the 50 over format is the worst for Associates, they don't have the quality to compete.. i think T20 WC should be expanded and thats where we will see associates growing. As much as a i love the 50 over WC, if the format can only be played by a handful of teams then no point having it as a WC when CT, Asia Cup also are there.

As much as it pains me we are heading to a T20 dominated sport, where Tests are played as exhibition between Big 3 and SA/NZ once in a while.
