wanted_desi Posted July 26 Posted July 26 I know most of you would pick Jaiswal over Rohit Sharma. How about Rohit Sharma vs V. Sooryavanshi for WC2027? Rohit Shamra in his Peak in SA: Innings: 13 Total Runs: 256 Highest Score: 115 (Port Elizabeth, 2018) Batting Average: 19.69 Overall Strike Rate: 67.90 Manucrick, Lord, express bowling and 1 other 4
cricspirit Posted July 27 Posted July 27 Sooryavanshi without any doubt. VS is a pleasure to watch. VS can handle pressure and score in big games as he has shown. VS is a superstar already. Brings in the box office. We invest in future than holding on to relics. Just cause Rohit scored a century means nothing. Every point against him continuing to play at the expense of young players still stands. Please go Rohit. Just leave. express bowling 1
JaFanatic Posted July 27 Posted July 27 Jaiswal is an accumulator. We already have KL, Gill and Kohli for that role. We might have one more accumulator in washy st 7 that's 4 in the top 7. Having sooryavanshi helps and that too in pp overs rather than having accumulators at both ends with Gill and Jaiswal. Having said that we'll still achieve par or above scores with Jaiswal but vaibhav can demoralize the opp bowling early.
sage Posted July 27 Posted July 27 https://www.outlookindia.com/sports/cricket/farokh-engineer-opines-vaibhav-sooryavanshi-spot-in-odi-cricket-gill-to-bat-at-number-four Sooryavanshi Should Be Picked For ODI's, Gill Should Play At Four; Says Farokh Engineer Teen sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi should be drafted into the ODI side as an opener alongside Rohit Sharma ahead of the 2027 World Cup, reckoned former India cricketer Farokh Engineer
JaFanatic Posted July 27 Posted July 27 On a side note - We might even see India's oldest ever ODI player and youngest ever ODI player opening the batting! Nope definitely not wishing for that in a world cup BacktoCricaddict and Manucrick 2
zen Posted July 27 Posted July 27 Why would anyone want an upcoming blossoming youngster when you have a past his peak experienced veteran? nevada, Lord, JaFanatic and 4 others 5 1 1
singhvivek141 Posted July 28 Posted July 28 (edited) I will not pick Vaibhav over Rohit in WC 2027. Simple Reason: Not because I hate Vaibhav or love Rohit, but I am worried about the Social Media Bullying which Vaibhav might face if god forbid he fails. All the Social media fans of Rohit Sharma will tag him, make his memes and will assault him on the Social Media which might scare the kid. And I am 100% sure no senior will come ahead and defend him and condemn the behaviour of their fans. We have seen that in the past with Rishabh Pant, when the MSD "fans" trolled him and mocked him in the live stadium. Pant managed it but still such behavior can break a 16 year old from inside, who probably is not yet ready to face the harsh reality of life. We have seen in the past with Gill as well where a certain sects of "fans" actually threatened to sexually assault her sister. I'm not worried for Jaiswal, he has seen enough challenges and is now a 24-25 year old. This is the time to take over the world. Vaibhav is still too innocent. That is very sad.No player is bigger than the team. Regarding Pant, I blame guys like Shastri and Kohli, they were the captain and coach even after what he did in Australia and England in 2018.Instead of backing dynamic Pant they still craved for Dhoni in odis and even replaced Pant with Saha . They paid dearly for it when Dhoni screwed Indian team in 2019. As for Vaibhav, it might be too early. He still needs some experience. express bowling 1

Who can forget Rohit PR targeting Pandya after that captaincy fiasco. Vaibhav is once a generation player. Those players are built differently as they are so sure of. their talent: Messi, Pele etc. Even at 16 years old, he got a confidence that is hard to find even for someone who is 25 years old. vvvslaxman Posted August 1 Posted August 1 India could afford Sehwag because we had uber reliable bastmen surrounding him. In current situation nobody is reliable in a crucial knockout match.

singhvivek141 Posted August 1 Posted August 1 Our ex-cricketers should keep their mouth shut. Sad to say, but most of them are pretty dumb (specially in terms of fast bowling). In which world, Shri Bhuvaneshwar Kumar deserves a place in ODI. DK being a fidgety character, not only with the bat but with mic as well.

We can't say current 5,6,7 are anywher close to that.

But we've enough percentage batters now in Kohli and Gill with Shreyas and KL to survive 50 overs. Don't you think we can afford one mad max fury batter at the top? When he clicks it's a huge advantage especially in KOs where typically our batters go ultra defensive and achieve below par scores. This kid has a history of scoring(and we all know how he torments the bowlers when he gets going) in crucial games.
JaFanatic Posted August 1 Posted August 1 In fact he has been the most consistent KO batter in recent times with U19 final A series final and ipl playoffs he performed much batter than our typical safety first approach batters

They could arrest the slide and even take the game close to winning. Current lot with Sundar, Hardik, Kela inthose positions we are very vulnerable. Vaibhav is more than mad max cricketer. Even i would prefer him. But that is not how they will view him. They will want him to bat long. Sehwag's wicket was always dispensable. Bit like how Abhisehk's and Sanju's wicets were considered dispensable. Current set up will start dependign on vaibhav. WHenever he fails he will not be forgiven like Sehwag was. They want to avoid such a scenario i think.Guys like Ayush mhatre can bowl too. For some reason all these guys give up on their bowling. When he does that he will add an advantage to the team JaFanatic 1
