Lord Posted August 16 Posted August 16 Two thoughts 1. We all hate Pakistani and rightly so. But why does British not get that hate? Not only they looted us massively but created deep divides that still haunt us. Still we glorify them. 2. There is a trend now to demean many freedom fighters. They might have flaws but most still lived very tough times and made sacrifices that need to be respected, Anyhow, big thanks to people who laid their lives for our country, the armymen who continue to do so, and the unknown men/spies who make supreme sactifices even without any recognition. Jai Hind I think of 2 reasons 1. Brits are far away now...we dont have active dispute with them day by day basis. We have with Pakistan and they're just on the border. 2. Religious fanatism...Brits dont carry the religious fanatism anymore. I know Europe was in the teenth century...but not in 21st century atleast. Pakistan has become the worst example of Religious radicalism. Lord and BacktoCricaddict 2

Jai Hind 100% true, they not only looted us but still are proudly showcasing the loot as their own.Why would be Kohinoor and Peacock throne be still with them.It is the colonial hangover. Lord 1

They might have flaws but most still lived very tough times and made sacrifices that need to be respected, This is sadly the case on my WhatsApp friends groups. They were proud that, this year, the high school from which I graduated celebrated a few hitherto uncelebrated freedom fighters but not some others who were celebrated during our time there. But why should this be an either-or proposition? It is great that we are now recognizing others, but why not add them instead of replacing them? Lord 1
kepler37b Posted August 17 Posted August 17 May the average indian go beyond the narrow interests of family/caste/region for this one day and think like a son of a glorious civilization. Just for one day. But I guess that is a fantasy. Jai Shri Ram!!!

When one person gets max credit for freedom, while the contributions of those revolutionary freedom fighters like MadanLal Dhingra, Veer Savarkar, Khudiram Bose, Alluri Sitarama Raju are nowhere mentioned. Why likes of Nehru, Gandhi used to get a well facilitated room as a jail...from where they can write their books and letters...while others were either hanged or were sent to a jail where theyve to live in inhumane conditions which can broke hopes of any individual.

They must absolutely be celebrated and given credit. But there is no reason to erase the others who have been celebrated for the past 8 decades. Why did the Brits provide Gandhi and Nehru a different status? I don't know. Did they make big mistakes in their approach? For sure. But I wouldn't question their patriotism and desire to get the Brits out of there. Lord 1

Out of the eight decades, close to three decades have been spent on by public with Internet coverage. So a lot of information that was narrated to the public in the first five decades were all propaganda pulse narratives. The age of Internet has revealed some of these false narratives. I know more about Gandhi Nehru than I knew 30 years ago. And these are not WAU facts, there are genuine research articles, and opinion pieces from like minded, right minded people. There is no way to deny that Gandhi refused to administer pencil in to his wife and let her die in pain, and two years later, he took all the medicines. How can you deny that Nehru was not chosen by Congress as the first Prime Minister by Congress leaders and was done on persuasion of Gandhi. I see no reason to celebrate Gandhi. Nehru could still have had good intentions of india. It was all personal for Gandhi. diga and singhvivek141 2

He ignored the requests of Raja Hari Singh to send military in J&K, despite him and Sardar Patel repeatedly asking him to do. He sent it later when Pak army entered into a large portion of Kashmir. 2. Ordering a ceasefire right when Indian Army started pushing Pak army back. Wasted the sacrifice of heroes like PVC Major Somnath Sharma. 3. He ignored all the reports from China's advances towards Tibet and later Aksai Chjn..in his own words its a barren useless piece of land. 4.. He forcefully stopped Dr. Rajendra Prasad to not attend the renovation of Somnath Temple. 5. His hand twisting of Gandhi to stop Sardar Patel being the PM. 6. His refusal to accept proposal for India as the permanent member of UNSC. 7. Pause of Population exchange in 1950 after Sardar Patel's death. diga 1

Sudden stoppage of Non Cooperation movement after Chauri Chaura incident. 2. Promoting non violence on one side, but then asking Indian Soldiers to fight for Brits on the other 3. Not even attempting to save the lives of Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev, Rajguru....calling them some armed goons/gangsters Brits ran out of India due to 1. Heavy losses they suffered in World War 2. The Navy Revolution of 1946, this was the one which pushed British govt on their knees. diga 1

Sad the people who led the mutiny were dismissed and banned from service even after independence of course few freedom didn’t want their name to be associated for causing the British departure. People who killed Indian freedom fighters as police and army was never striped of their service. @BacktoCricaddict Edited August 18 by gattaca BacktoCricaddict, Lord and singhvivek141 2 1
putrevus Posted August 18 Posted August 18 NCERT history books also was one of main reasons why Gandhi and Nehru continued to get lot of glory while others who laid down their lives remained anonymous. Nehru was portrayed as this great administrator . I don't know if those NCERT books have changed much in recent times after so many myths have been exposed. singhvivek141 1

He brought communists on education boards. He said not aligned but aligned with Soviet Union. He did hindhi chin Bhai nonsense. Because he inaugurated few IITs left claim he established them lol.
