Best bowler in this match is a trundler though lol Ollie Robinson. Probably had an average speed of 74 mph.  You still need skill to sequence your deliveries. You need a bit of variety in your line up. They had Archer who did nothing in this match. But  Tongue reaped rewards with his fast and full balls. Same with NZ. It is about variety nto allowing batsmen to settle down against one type of bowling.

He was unplayable. He moved the ball at will

lol Brook bowled in the 90s. Kohli like dismissal. Went back too much. Ball turned and bounced. Good ball though> From the leg stump

As DK said Brook wanted his ton today itself was showing some urgency all of a sudden.

Good ball by Usman though.. the one that slides on.. he will be a menace on dustbowls

Say what you want....Test cricket in SENA and more so in England is such a pleasant viewing experience. The commentary, the broadcast quality, the grounds, the quality of cricket and the crowd involvement..

Meanwhile here we have Pan Bahar , chapri DJs and Sunil Gavaskar..:pepsi:

Galle was decent as well... Indian fans were extremely happy with the service on the ground and facilities.

Open stadiums always have that aesthetic viewing experience...

England is obviously a first world country so no comparisons needed

Its broadcast quality plus less pollution

Indian broadcasters know public will lap up anything

This test match is the perfect example of why useless trundlers like Mukesh Kumar, Anshul Kamboj and Auqib Nabi should never play tests for India.
Our team would be chasing leather all day just like how Pakistan is at the moment!

The properties/attributes of test bowlers are very simple and have been same since forever -- High release/bounce, Zip, Sustained pace and accuracy.

The template for test pacers is very simple.  Other formats requires few more skills and bowlers not having above mentioned attributes can also work in other formats

A Trundler has to have

a tall frame and actually have some skill that Robinson has developed which is the wobble seam and he does get extra bounce.

Neither Kamboj, neither Nabi have any of those skillsets.

I have never seen a team, with multiple trundlers ( who lack both pace and bounce ) , dominate test cricket or even ODI cricket.

Infact, apart from Philander in tests and Bracken in ODIs, have we ever seen a low average trundler with 150+ test / ODI wickets in a dominant team ?  Even here, Philander averaged 38 in tests in Asia and hardly played ODIs .... and Bracken was 6'5" and did not play tests.

From trundlers, individual performances maybe found, maybe decent shortish individual careers too like Md. Abbas, but their teams are not dominant teams.

Multiple fast bowlers don't guarantee that you will be a dominant team in tests and ODIs ( because skills maybe lacking or batting maybe weak )  .... but dominant teams invariably have multiple fast bowlers / bounce bowlers with skills.

You need a bit of variety in yor line up. Peak Shami,Ishant, Bumrah are the best combo. Don'tthink we will ever get that kind of combo. ALl could bowl all day. Then Thakur was bringing the ball in and out at 135k speed. Current line up bar Bumrah has no threat factor. We are assuming things. Disciplined batting unit like NZ, SA know how to wear these guys out render them impotent. It is not just trundlers. Australia looked impotent in WTC final. Also impotent against Bangladesh who outbowled them.  Ability to maintain the channel for long periods will be the key to success.
