Lol I started this thread back in 2013. Now it's proving to be true. He is the best all-rounder since kapil dev. He might not catch him in terms of impact. But Jadeja is truly overlooked in terms of performances.

Jadeja walks into this team as bowler, comfortably. Without any hesitation.

 

The fact that he can bat and bat well and aggressively, gives India a strong and deep batting lineup.

He has been an AR for the last 2 years, his overall career mainly a bowler. Kapil was a legit AR his entire career. 

If Sirji can keep this (batsmanship) up for another 6-7 years he can be classified as AR, may be even better than Kapil then.

He can surpass Vinoo Mankad in stature,  but  Kapil ?? No way.... Taking into account the adversities against which  Kapil achieved his averages, his  specialities as a batsman, his ODI credentials, his captaincy ..... no way the great Kapil can be surpassed.

Back in the 80s the definition was someone who could be the frontline bowler and an above average batsman and a terrific fielder. He is good in 2 depratments (at home).  Batting not quiet there yet.  He has to bowl well everywhere he plays, bats well anywhere he bats.

No way do we have any cricketer in the current Indian cricjet who can surpass Kapil Dev. All duplicates, China items.

Comparison to Kapil Dev is a bit much, but me likely Sir-ji. But Sirji has to keep this up for a fair comparison.
 

Kapil Dev was a one man show for most of his career in the pace bowling department toiling on those placid dead Indian pitches.
